    Default Cellulite Help!

I'm sure this has been posted before but I couldn't find a thread, so here's a new one! Ladies, I need help with finding a product or home remedies for my cellulite. After my babies I've developed some moderate cellulite on my butt and back thighs. Toning my body up helps this, but even after I tone up some more I'll need to use some product to help tighten the skin. So, what products are the best!? And if anyone has any home remedies please tell me your secrets! Thanks!

I use a foam roller once a day and it has helped decrease the appearance. I hate cellulite.

Foam rollers are also good for sore muscles, kind of like a massage.

You can get foam rollers at athletic supply stores or online, just google it. You should be able to get one for $20-$40.

As for lotions or creams, i haven't tried any but would like to see others recommendations.

The Jergen's stuff I use works okay on a temporary basis - it's just important to remember that cellulite has nothing to do with being fat/out of shape/etc and everything to do with hormones and having aged beyond puberty. It's not some disease to be cured! But obviously all of us would like to reduce its appearance as much as possible. Still, if toning up doesn't do 99% of the work, there's not much else that really can! I've always felt that us girls need to learn to embrace this much maligned part of being a woman and stop treating it like some horrible thing that shouldn't be there - but sadly it seems the world just isn't ready to accept that it's a perfectly normal and natural part of womanhood. Honestly - 99% of women have it in some degree, and less than 1% of men do - and those few men have it because of a hormonal imbalance. It's just simply meant to be there.

But yeah, sorry about the little rant there. Like I said, for me, the Jergen's Skin Firming lotion does a fair job for a few hours at least... and like the post above me said, I hear that rolling helps too.

I hate cellulite, but I do agree with you. I wish it was more accepted so I didn't have to freakin' worry about it. And honestly the only reason I am worrying about it is because the industry is about looks, so yeah... Otherwise I wouldn't be so worried about it. Thanks for the suggestions! I had no idea cellulite was a hormonal thing. That explains why it developed after my pregnancies.

Will do! Getting rid of dairy will help me loose some weight and tone up too. (Well, cutting down on dairy. I have to be careful about dieting while breastfeeding. It's not recommended, but if you're smart about it it is ok.)

And exactly how much water would you say is "a lot?" I used to drink a gallon a day when I lost my previous baby weight, but that took some self discipline on my part. I hated having to drink that much water all of the time lol.

Here is a great article about water and weight loss which aired on NPR recently. See what you think.

I don't believe creams do very much except increase circulation. But what I've heard is they puff up the skin temporarily, making the cellulite seem less apparent. Now that I've gone through that phase, I'd rather just work out because I see a real difference from exercise.

And I agree with Bellkitty, just accept the rest of yourself once you've done your best with exercise. Toning can do wonders on the legs. I got a lot of great exercise ideas from the DVD "Love Your Legs," which I got on Amazon.com. They talk about nutrition too on the video. I'm a lot happier with my legs now, and it feels healthy just to accept the little bit that exercise can't change.

Yeah, I think it was a cosmetics company in the 1950's that started the myth that cellulite was something wrong to be fixed, caused by being out-of-shape or whatever, and that myth has perpetuated until now. Before that it was always considered a normal and natural part of reaching puberty, like breasts and pubes and everything else - which is exactly what it IS! But reducing it's appearance as much as possible is never a bad thing. Just like some of us would rather not live with our natural pubes, we don't have to live with tons of cellulite either!
