three essential points hit me like a hammer ...

- what percentage of the third world's population will ultimately become dependent on 'price controlled' food supplies to avoid hunger / starvation ? By 'price controlled' I'm referring to gov't imposed 'below world market price' domestic food price levels that are actually subsidized by international aid or 'donations' from despots.

- what role will well financed despots like Hugo Chavez wind up in, as millions and millions of third world residents and their political leaders wind up 'owing' his 'generosity' for the food on their family's table ?

- what will the well financed despots expect in return ?


from one point of view, this developing situation is worse than that of drug addicts / drug dealer, since there is no way to avoid an ongoing 'need' for food.
