    Default My poor feet :(

I'm sure that this has been posted before, but I didn't see it, so I'll ask away..

I bought new clear stilettos online and wore them saturday night. I had worn them around my house and such, but saturday night was total agony. The plastic straps of the shoes totally rubbed off my skin in some places on the insides of my feet.

Does anyone know of a way to speed up the healing process? I want to dance again next Saturday night..

As well, a friend told me to use a hairdryer on my shoes to soften them up faster.. any other suggestions??

    Thanks

I wear socks when I break in clear shoes. Just a thin pair of trouser socks helps keep the skin on my feet. Not sure how to heal them but I know that socks keep pain under control and managable for me. Hair dyrers do help to soften the plastic but too much heat will make them streach out too much.

I remember for the first week or so of me dancing I had to warp my toes in flesh colored bandaids so the shoes rubbed them off and not my skin.

    Hang in there! lol

If it's the edges of a pair of plastic mules, I had a customer recommend this and it worked like a charm: round the edge off with the finest sandpaper you can find. I suppose an emery board would work as well.

Arnica is great for healing--not just bruises, but cuts and scrapes, too!

For the cuts that are already there, you could put band aids over them and an ace bandage, to prevent further cutting and lessen the irritation and then just wear dark colored thigh highs and if it's real bumpy, throw some leg warmers on.

^The stockings can really kick up an outfit *and* save your feet.

Neosporin really does speed healing. It's not just commercial hype. Plus, if you get any infection, it will truly suck.

Try to give your feet as much air as possible when you're not at work so that the scabbing can start.

Thanks for all of the replies - I really can't believe that my feet are this bad

I'll have to invest in some stockings, cream, and some nice bandaids Guess I'll just have to suffer it out.

I actually put a little dab of lotion on my feet before i slid my feet in my shoes. It helped them slide in easier and it also helped them not rub my feet too much.

Lotion on the tops of my feet is definitely a good idea too!

I wore sandals to work today, to try to let my feet breathe a bit.. they seems to be healing, but really slowly Hopefully I won't be asked too many questions

socks! I wear cute knee high socks anytime my feet are angry or if my legs are too bruised up from the stage. (i bruise SUPER easy). Hell, I even have a black and pink striped pair I wear frequently and it gets a lot of attention lol. Find something you like and try to have fun w/ it

Spray deodorant helps my feet out alot. Most of the nasty scabs on my feet come from my shoes (clear 8-inchers w/o an ankle strap) chafing because my feet are sweaty and the shoes haven't warmed up yet.

You can use baby powder too, but that will visibly cake up on the shoes much faster.
