I had it. That moment when you realize, "That's it, I'm getting old." And its not funny anymore, not like when the kid working at Ralph's calls you ma'am and you look at him like "I'm 22 bitch, not your grandma."
I was going to the grocery store with my boyfriend when we spotted some guys throwing golf balls onto the freeway. I called the local police and told them what we had just seen. They asked me about how old they were and because I hadnt been wearing my glasses and couldnt get a good look, I had to ask my boyfriend. I spoke into the phone "They were kids, about 17."
So there you have it. I wasnt wearing my glasses and couldnt see very well, and when my boyfriend told me how old they were, I called them kids. It was subtle, but it was enough. ::sigh:: holy crap. All my friends are married or getting married and having kids, and I'm nearly there with them. Thats it, I'm getting old.
I've fought all my life to be as mature and responsible as possible, and now that its being forced upon as an emerging professional, I just want to put on a mini skirt and go clubbing, or play video games and watch South Park all day; anything to keep the age train from going so fast.
Have you had that moment yet? What happened?
