Default What do you dancers expect from the waitresses?

I need your opinions ladies. Im starting my new job next week and I want to know what you expect from me as your waitress?

I have waitressed before and served drinks but never in a strip club.
I have been a customer a few times in a club but being a customeras opposed worker is a whole different ball game.

Serve drinks, remember orders, understand *code* when a dancer wants a non-alcoholic drink, be friendly & polite. The usual stuff.

Please don't: try to steal customers, sit and chat with customers, sit on a customers lap, give your phone # to customers, do VIP rooms with customers, or act like dancers are sooo beneath you.

In my opinion... I think strip club waitresses are meant to be invisible. You'll get top points with me if you are knowledgeable (i.e. can recommend a drink for an unsure custy), speedy, and polite. Please don't try and steal the spotlight or say disparaging things about a dancer (even if you hate a girls guts). I've seen so much drama caused by waitresses with ego-issues. Do your job be a well oiled machine, and girls will make sure the custies tip you well.

um... come into the dressing room and ask if anyone needs anything--- b/c i'm a minor and i can't go on the floor, i'm sometimes stuck in the back dying of thirst and the waitress never comes and I can never catch her on the floor. but that's just my situation- it could be helpful where you're at too maybe.

Also, be prepared to have customers tell you that you are so much prettier, better, smarter, than all of the girls who take their clothes off. Please don't let it go to your head. You don't want to be the bitch-waitress that proclaims across the room in a booming voice "Hah! You could never afford me!!!"

Just smile, thank them for the compliment and ask the guy if he needs anything else.

Wow! If you can't go on the floor how do you sell dances?

^She has to sell them when a customer comes up to the tiprail, iirc.

Also, please be willing to form alliances with all the dancers. Oftentimes a customer will ask a waitress to grab a particular dancer for him. If a waitress helps me out this way, I will always tip her at the end of the night because she was a good lead. You scratch our back, we scratch yours.

I don't think the waitresses should be invisible; I think they're a good gateway for less frequent SC customers to get used to talking to pretty girls; there's less pressure and they help set the mood. If you're having a good time, the customer has a good time, and is ready for me to help him have a GREAT time.

My favorite line ever when they ask why aren't you dancing is to say "well, then who would be here to serve you drinks?" with a sassy wink. I stole it from this site a long time ago. I think it was Yekefah? There was another reference to southern hospitality in it too. I've only waitressed a handful of times but I've found this short, simple retort the most effective to be able to move on quickly and let the dancers take over without coming off as a bitch and affecting your own tips.

    ^this is pretty much it.

be professional, friendly, and kind without "stealing customers". every dancer is awesome in your mind. that's what the customer should think anyway

the waitresses who have pissed me off royal were ones who:

    -sat down with customers/hustled customers

-neglected their job so badly the customer was complaining to ME about needing drinks.

when -i- have to stop doing my job to do yours (get up myself, go to the bar, get free drink cards from management because i feel bad, etc) you have not made a friend in me. when i have to do this it instantly gives the customer a different perception of me. i become club staff/a waitress. i do this sort of stuff when i have to, for the sake of the club getting repeat business.. but i do NOT like to.

the only exception is if the club is very understaffed that shift or you have extenuating circumstances (you are dying-sick or your boyfriend called to tell you your house just exploded).

Dont take 20 minutes to bring me my friggen drink. I dont want to be sitting with this customer forever. Take my order - get my drink - bring it to me.

We have one waitress who is GREAT at this and she knows shes the only waitress I like. Others will leave me with some guy forever that is not spending money!

and please understand we love getting a VIP as much as u do a 100 or 200 dollar tip but u wont get that tip unless u keep bring an $8 beer for a two buck tip a couple times. It is like us doing floor dances, its harder work but does add up. (everytime I need to do a VIP at my club I cant find a waitress and the customer says he just starting going to the bar after the first round because she never came back, I ask the waitress and her reply is usually something to the exent that he only tiped her 2on a $8 drink)

And dont hustle guys for a tip on the way out of VIP there us a kind way to ask for a tip when he is signing a tab but if u out right hustle the customer it usually pushes him off and he will not do VIP the next time. And I'm really sorry ( i love some waitresses and will even push my client to tip more) but please dont go into the locker room and complain about only getting 10percent (one hour cost 950, so like $100) tip on a VIP
when u did not bring drinks or anything all u did was run a credit card. In that situation the dancer did the work most people would love to swipe a credit card for $100

I used to tip waitresses $5 for every customer they pre-sold a lap dance with me. Sometimes the waitresses were sending me to cold customers (not pre-sold), but if the guy did eventually buy anyway, I'd still give her extra $$ anyway.

I saw it as a way to duplicate my own efforts. I didn't want to waste time hustling the floor, so if I was already in VIP the waitresses in the club were working toward my next dance.

The waitresses would also clue me in to who was spending and who has been nursing a 2-4-1 beer special for four hours.

They -could- be. Some waitresses, in my humble opinion, should learn to waitress first. Once you have the basics down, advanced waitress techniques can be introduced.

A strip club is an interesting environment. It takes time, for dancers and staff, to acclimatize to it if they've never worked in such an environment before.

In a few weeks you'll learn who has money, who doesn't, what girls will work with you, what girls will be complete bitches, etc.

I've learned that hot tips fizzle very quickly. A host, waitress, bouncer will tell me that a guy is a high roller, or that he's into girls like me, or some other tidbit of information what winds up leading nowhere. It ends up being a big waste of my time. So yeah... not everyone can be or should be in the know.

As long as you are sweet and don't give me or my customer an attitude, it's all good. I have worked with some waitresses that have acted like I was bothering them or something when I told them I needed them to serve me and my customer. I mean don't get me wrong, I don't go ordering waitresses around, I waited tables for 10 years so I am very respectful and patient. Sometimes when it's busy though, it's better to just ask for service than to wait. I will usually throw you a few dollars too, to show that if you come serve us it will be worth your time.

A waitress really helped me to sell a dance by talking me up to the customer, and I tipped her of course.

Oh, this is basic but always appreciated. When you see a customer sitting with a dancer, assume he wants to by her a drink. Take his order and then say, "for the lady?" or something like that. A willingness to buy me a drink is a good indicator to me that the customer will spend more money, and if he refuses to do it, I know to walk away posthaste.

Including the dancers in your attempts to get the drink tabs on the floor up as high as possible is good for everyone.

I always remember a waitress who comes over for a drink order and leaves without even asking if I'd like one, and not in a good way. It's just sort of rude.

If you work in a club where girls are required to sell drinks, please hustle them whenever possible. IMO it works better when the bartender/waitress is hustling drinks then when the dancers do.

If a dancer sits down with a guy, give it a couple minutes and ask if he'd like to buy the lady a drink. Likewise try to sell them onstage.

It's REEALLY obvious but there's more than a couple at my club that I can't stand because when they're not busy they'll stare off into space or flirt with custies instead of doing this!

I waitressed for a looong time and I will tell you...the absolute best way to make money as a waitress is to ...

#1. Give good, *fast* service to everyone and be friendly. Do this for low-tipping customers and especially employees! You never know who knows who!

#2. Be very good to ALL the dancers. Try to be everyone's favorite waitress. This WILL put a LOT of money in your pocket! Talk them up to custies. Point them in the direction of a custy wanting to spend money. Every girl may not tip you or have their custy tip you every time you are good to them, but TRUST ME, they will either tip you another time, hook you up another time, or they may just have your back some time. There will always be that dancer who never tips or who is a bitch, but unless they are a real cunt, be good to them. You never know when it will benefit you. Give special effort and consideration to those who you work with regularly. They will make sure their custies take good care of you.

#3. Tip your bartender honestly and well. Even overtip a bit to ensure you are also the bartender's favorite waitress so they will make a special effort to make your drinks quickly.

#4. If anyone hooks you up with a custy who tips you well, give them 5-10% of what you made off the custy and say thank you. It could be a dancer, a bouncer, DJ or anyone else. Everyone likes to be appreciated and the best way to show appreciation is with money!

When I waitressed, I made great money this way. I even made more than many dancers...*without having to hustle customers or invade on "dancer turf".

    Good luck!

*some of this may have already been covered in this thread
