    Raised Scars

I've had a small but very raised scar for about 4 years now. I took care of the initial 'wound' and it just healed horribly(I scar very badly) and thought it might get better over time. Well, it still looks as bad as it did initially. Should I go to the derm. and get it cut off? Or will that just create another scar? Vitamin E cream did nothing for me.

I never thought of laser treatment. I wish they'd do it for free since the derm. is the one who gave me the scar lol!

I have tried those pad treatments, to no avail.

I have a raised scar on my left armpit. That's my indicator of having implants (look so real my Mom can't even tell) and I hate it.

My right armpit has a raised scar..... the left armpit = no scar. I can't figure out why I healed weird. I'd love to get rid of it.

Yeah, I started using Retin-A cream on it. I think it helped some but I haven't been doing that lately. I'm going to start back up tonight. ACtually, i haven't been noticing it as much and I'm in the mirror with raised arms a lot (i teach group fitness now). I'll check again tomorrow. Retin-A just might be the trick!

Eh...I had a scar lasered once, didn't do shit...the lady who did it was good, but even she didn't think it would work. My scar was an older, brownish scar - she said that newer, whitish/pinkish scars are what the laser is best at getting rid of. So if that's what you have maybe it'll work.

I have a very ugly, very noticeable scar from a navel ring gone awry, unfortunately it's more brown than pink, but does anyone have any other suggestions for what's worked for them? I've tried Mederma, vitamin E, coconut oil....

Are you sure it's not a keloid?

I had my derm freeze off a scar that was raised. It was small. Now it's flat but still pinkish.

I'm not sure if you have a keloid or not.. but if you do have one and you cut it off there is a high chance that it would just keloid again. That's what I was told for my scars on 3 different consults I went to. But if it's not a keloid that's a different story.

Thing is, the scar is and has always been exactly within the borders of the original 'wound.'

Just for curiosities sake, are you pretty fair complected?? I know i am and I heard that contributes to bad scaring.

Believe it or not simple coconut butter (ie from bodyshop) has helped mine a lot.

Retin-A has worked miracles on some scars of mine from when I SI-ed. Scarguard is working GREAT on my healing incisions, not sure what it would do for old scars though.
