Default Rant and seeking advice-Club ripping everyone off

    Im pissed off.

[Summary, cos I ended up rambling: no lights/music for over 2 hours, club still charged fees, threatened girls with fines, charged custies entry despite no performers, girls walked out, not even a 'thank-you' to the 5 of us who stayed. So is it worth stripping for LESS than MINIMUM WAGE at a bad club till I lose the weight to get hired in a better place?]

Last night I went to work, to find that they had rostered 18 girls on (theres usually no more than 15, unless a VIP party has booked) Oh well, Ill make less, but get through it.

So theres no custies, and a club full of girls. Then a fuse (Im guessing) goes, and we lose the stage side of the club, no music or lights in that section.

After 2 hours most of the girls just walked out. They didnt get fined for leaving (as far as Ive heard) After 3 hours, its still not fixed, and by now the place is pretty much empty.

And why was it empty? They were still charging $15 entry to guys, and not telling them that there were no lights or music . (and no proper stages running)
Guys were complaining, and asking for a free entry for next time to make up for it. Management refused. So we have groups of guys on their phones LOUDLY telling their mates how they are being ripped off, and are leaving. This is REALLY bad business. These guys are lost now, I know *I* wouldnt want to go back to a place like this. And they tell their friends...

I had TWO guys still want dances, but since their mates were all leaving, they were pressured into going as well.

I considered leaving too, but I was there, and there was only another 4 girls, so I thought it would be alright. Then I found out that the owner wasnt even going to give us free stage for the night. Thats right, I paid $40 to sit there for 3 hours while they were trying to get lights/music.

At 1am we finally had lights and a dodgy-job sound system going. I sold a dance to a regular (thank god) and he wanted to extend. This meant I was 1 minute late for my podium. So the DJ is bitching at me, saying that he is going to fine me $30 for being late. I did my stage then went and talked to the head bar girl and she had 'sorted it out' so I didnt have to pay my fine.

This is just bullshit. I had stayed back and danced in the dark, so that MORE guys wouldnt leave with no stage shows happening. And now Im getting FINED? We saved their arses last night, no girls means they close, which is THOUSANDS lost, and we didnt even get a free stage fee.
Plus they were still talking about fines etc
If they had fined me I would have walked straight away.

And between us 5 girls we didnt even make $3000. The girls doing the lesbian shows all night walked out with $200 each, under $20/hr.

So now my problem is that the 12 girls who walked out last night will DEFINITELY come in tonight. And since there were dramas last night partygoers who have heard about this may not come in. There will be too many girls, and I doubt that there will be quality custies. I doubt Ill make more than I would at my day job, since Ive been struggling to hit $25 an hour there. (we have 10 hour shifts, you get fined if you leave early, so Im exhausted by the time its actually busy)

Im also sore about not even getting a thankyou for last night.

Im working hard to lose this weight, and I figured dancing already would help me tone up, plus Im getting paid for it. But on Thursday night I made $10 an hour, cos the place emptied at 1am, yet we all had to stay until 5am.

(And I mean emptied. There was 2 guys playing pool, and the owners 'friends' who hang out there every night. NOONE at the stages.)

Im thinking about just not working, taking more hours at the day job, and hitting the gym until the flab is gone. THEN getting some decent work.

I know I still made $ that I wouldnt have had, but it feels counter-productive to work for so little, miss sleep AND the gym, cos Im tired from a 14hour 'day'

I cant wait to get to Melbourne, where there might actually be some money to be made.

First off, wow, I'm sorry you had to deal with that bullshit. How unprofessional.

If you're working 14 hour days and not breaking minimum wage, then I think more hours at your day job might be better (although I don't know how much you're making there and how stress-free it is) Do you absolutely have to lose weight before you try another club?

Ive had many problems with this place, the owner is attempting to manage the place,(rather than hire another manager when the old one left) which is just too much drama.

I usually do ok, but there is way too many nights when Ive struggled to make the same wage as my day job. And 14 hours is the time from leaving home to getting home, but I count travelling time as worked time.

Theres ALOT of competition over here atm, one of the best girls at this place couldnt get hired at the club I want to work at, they have so many girls on. So if I want to work somewhere decent, I have to lose weight.

Okay, first off, take on more hours at the day job.

Take it from me.. when something negative happens to a club.. it does impact business for the next fortnight or even month! Something like what you club did will impact business there for a loooooong time to come.. long time. Ditch the club.

Secondly, never EVER expect the club (ANY club) to thank you for anything. I learnt that lesson a looooong time ago. Expecting a thank you is too high an expectation for ANY club. You are a dime a dozen to them and thus they will never EVER thank you for anything even if you KNOW they SHOULD be thanking you.

Lastly, Melbourne isn't always the holy grail HOWEVER it does sound a hell of a lot better than the club you are currently working within ... and you might be being a bit harsh on yourself about your weight...

Also, is it your weight or do you just need to "tone up" ? There IS a difference. "Loosing weight" to me is when you ARE over-weight already (by medical defition) and need to be a certain actual weight to be in the "healthy" weight range. Tone-ing up is where you just need to improve the overlook of your body... as such.. basically making things look a bit more "toned" and this may or may not actually include weight loss.

Plus always remember muscle weighs heavier than fat so judging everything on weight alone is not a good way to go about it.. Measure yourself.. various body parts: upper arms, waist, upper leg, under-bust, etc to see if there is any improvements.

    Thanks Vee.
Im not overweight, but Im 32% body fat (last check), which is way too high to strip. I used to work out, and when I stopped I just got chunky, rather than 'built' Ive lost 5cm around my back/underbust, and about 3cm everywhere else (in 4 months) but Ive not been working out properly, cos of the two jobs and family commitments.

I carry it well, being tall, but Im usually one of the biggest girls in a place. The industry is bad here atm, and the girls are jumping from one club to the next, which makes it hard to get work.

Hubbie is so happy that Im out of there (I might go back for one night before I go to Melbourne) cos Ive been getting stressed and depressed about the money there.
The TOP EARNERS who do a lesbian feature, and double team all night make under $1000 in a 10 hour shift.

And with screwing people over like they did last night, the money will melt, Im sure.

My weight is the deciding factor, Im convinced. Hubbie think its cos Im not confident, but I feel stupid telling guys "get a dance with me cos Im so hot" when I know that Im not a 10. Ill kick my arse in the gym for the next 3 weeks, and get some muscle back hopefully!

I know heaps of strippers who are not a size 10 (australian) and that do well.. Melbourne WILL be better for you as you don't really have to be a size 10.. just look good.

I don't think I'm even a size 10! hahaha and I wouldn't call myself fat by a looooong shot! As for body fat percentage... um.. how the hell do you calculate or find that out? I have no idea what mine is/was/ever was... never thought it was worth knowing.

I recently applied for the armed forces, and they check your body fat % with measurements and calculations. I was 10% less than my magic scales reckon, which made me feel better.

Umm.. You think you guys have too many girls at your club *lol* We are too over crowded! more dancers then guys ....and its very quiet because its getting cold.. Just so you know. My girlfriends stopped flying down here from Qld to work because the money isn't as good anymore as it used to be and its because there are so many dancers and way less custies.
