    Default Spending...

So far this year i have been very sensible with money; i have budgeted very well, put money in my savings account and also kept some in cash and every week i was watching it steadily increasing and was feeling great. This month, however i have had rhinoplasty (which i paid for out of the cash fund) and i have had to spend $6000 to furnish my rental appartment, so now my cash fund and bank account are very small and although i know that im spending my money wisely, it's just sooooooo depressing to see it all go down so fast after it took so long to build.

Perhaps you are not spending wisely if you put yourself in the position of not having any savings for three months of expenses - especially in this economic condition.

Congrats on not spending more money on interest payments for buying on credit though.

Good job on putting money away! Even if you've just spent your savings, the fact that you built it up is proof that you can get your finances where you want them just by planning it out. Start saving again, this time put money into an account you won't touch. I personally have a money market saving account and I put money in there monthly. No more than $1000 a month, but I've got bills to pay, so I do what I can. Anyways, the money automatically draws from my checking account (at a separate bank) and goes into the money market, and I have no atm card, no checks, no way to spend the money in savings. I could if I wanted to, but that's why I didn't ask for those things when I opened the account.

Try opening a separate account and not touching it. This will be your emergency money for a rainy day. And all your planned savings for shopping sprees, vacations, a new car.. they can all go to your regular savings account which you will withdraw from as necessary.
