You can use things like frozen bananas, and frozen blueberries. That's yummy.

I used to blend vanilla protein powder, soymilk, and frozen strawberries for breakfast. It was really really good but after 6 years I got sick of 'em.

    One smoothie I make has:

    8oz of coconut milk
    1 whole banana
    6 big strawberries
    handful of blueberries
    1/2 avocado
    1 peeled kiwi
    6-8 ice cubes

Put it all in a blender and blend! If you want to add protein powder, you can.

    Another:

    8 oz. cocount milk
    2 oz. water
    1 full banana
    Peanut butter to taste
    chocolate protein powder
    6-8 ice cubes

    Blend and enjoy

    One more:

    8 oz. coconut milk
    1 banana
    handful blueberries
    handful raspberries
    4-5 large strawberries
    Ice cubes
    Protein powder, optional

    Blend

If you want more, let me know...I have some fizzy protein smoothies, as well...

Btw...I really do not believe in "meal replacement" smoothies. These are better as mid-meal snacks. You will lose weight more effectively if you eat 3 meals a day and 3 mid-meals a day. The smoothies, though better than slim fast, will not fill you up and you'll find yourself "crashing" shortly afterwards.

In fact, all of my smoothies are for my mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. The other times I eat raw fruits and veggies and eat 3 meals a day. I'm pregnant and it's how I've added necessary baby weight, but kept the excess weight off (as of 7 1/2 months preggers, I've gain 9 pounds...should be around 20 by the time baby is born and it'll all be gone within a few days afterwards).

Eat lots of "smart" meals and not only will you lose weight (or maintain well) you'll feel much better and have more energy.

Let me know if you need more smoothie recipes.

Sorry. I thought you knew a smoothie afaik is just a bunch of fruit and juice and something frozen whizzed up in the blender like a milk shake. You can add really anything that you like, including supplement powders. I didn't use ice cubes, preferring different frozen fruits instead. Hope that helps.

i found that when I did the smoothie with protein, after awhile I was sick of the taste. Try to always add banana for the frothy texture. If cost is a problem, look into purchasing frozen strwberries, bluberries, peaches when they are on sale. You can also freeze the banana. I slice my bananas up and freeze them in a gallon size bag. it seems tedious but it is a great snack...and they keep really well frozen. Now I have totally went off of the subject....IMO smoothies should NEVER replace a meal, and try to add some veggies into the blender. Search SW for the thread that has already been started once before on smoothies.

I gained that a month I think , lol ...and my little peanut was only 6.6 when she was born ....ok way off topic , THANKS for the smoothie info ALSO I just wanted to let you know that I was looking for meal replacements as much as mid meal snacks , I already said that but I am clarifying ....I mean a meal replacement would be nice for me for breakfast because like I said I just hate eating that early and when I work out I am not really hungry for lunch .. which sucks because then I get super hungry after like 7pm ......

Yep, it's all good. My daughter was 8.10 lbs and I gained 19 1/2 pounds. My son was 7.7 lbs and I gained 22 pounds. This baby will probably be about Makayla's size and I'll gain close to 20 pounds. But, I eat super healthy and I still workout every day. So the weight I'm putting on is all baby. I don't starve myself and I do allow the hormonal cravings, but other than that...I just don't see the need to gain more than what my body needs to have a healthy baby.

You really shouldn't skip breakfast...not even with a meal replacement. How about boiling up a bunch of eggs and putting them in the fridge? Then, every morning, you take 2 eggs with your shake (you won't need to put the protein powder in it) and run? It's what I do for my daughter since she doesn't like breakfast, either.

Oh I never skip breakfast !! I just hate eating when i am not hungry and I never really get hungry in the morning , it always feels like I am force feeding myself , ya know ? So do you put the egg in the smoothie ? When I am dieting really stricked like I am about to tomorrow morning I eat an omelette or peanut butter toast with fruit for breakfast .....That sounds kool though because I also can easily talk myself out of hot breakfast during the summer in FL .......lol , wow I am such a pain in the ass . Thanks so much for all your help xoxo Congrats on the baby btw ....mine just turned 2 this past Thursday

You CAN put eggs in your smoothies, but they'd have to be raw...I'm not too keen on that unless I know exactly where the eggs are coming from, etc, etc, etc. Keep the hardboiled eggs in the fridge (peel them the night before if needed) and just grab and dash. We eat the eggs in the car. They're cold and they taste good (IMHO) that way. I don't blame you for not wanting to eat hot foods in the morning...when it gets hot here (Chicago) I refuse to cook, bake, whatever. We grill out every night and I make all kinds of cold salads, etc.

    Sorry...didn't see this one.

I use coconut milk because we don't do dairy in our house. Coconut milk is great for you, though!! If you're just going to use it for smoothies, which we do, it's only about $1.80 a can...and it does add a lot of flavor to the smoothies...it also makes them a bit more creamier.

Well, fresh veggies are better, but if you're on a tight budget, you can always buy frozen veggies when they are not in season. Also, hit up the local farmers markets. The fruits and veggies there are uber fresh (more flavor) and much, much more inexpensive than buying from the store!! In the winter, we buy the fruits from the store...but the summer...I get all of our fruits and veggies from our local organic farms. Not only do they taste eons better, but they are more inexpensive, in the long run.

If you buy frozen veggies, make sure that there is nothing but the veggies in them (sometimes they freeze veggies with a sugar syrup...big no-no).

Omg I could not eat eggs that way , ugh I was dreading just having to smell them while they cooking , lol . Please dont misinterpret that as me being ungrateful for your advice because you have been really great ...I have a weird thing about smells . Like I cant eat cheese if I smell it cooking and I have to hand wash my cups and glasses to ensure they smell like NOTHING .

Any healthy cold salad recipes you wanna share would be kool I love cold salads and so does my wee one . So this whole smoothie thing is getting difficult for me ....maybe I should just splurge and get some protein powder , that way I can just add things that taste good etc ......I like the bolthouse stuff , premixed and yummy . Well I am gunna see what I whipped up , I am making a big trip to the grocery store tomorrow so ....I will let you know ! Thanks again

Ok so I made a smoothie today from Frozen bananas and some fresh strawberries and crushed ice ....I have to crush my own ice because my blender wont . I also added just a little apple juice because again my blender doesnt work right and it needs some liquid to blend . It was nice and cold and my daughter loves them .....I also bought some Bolthouse smoothie juice from the store , I got the blueberry one and thats nice too . I might try the Banana Peanut butter one tomorrow but I still havent bought any protein powder ......just letting you know how my smoothie experiance is going .

ooooooooooooooh , yummy , well I froze the bananas because in Florida everything rots faster than you can eat it . I dont want to add milk milk because of the calories but maybe soy is better or yogurt ?? How much of each do you add ??

For the liquid you could also use a couple cups of orange or apple juice.
