Default Makep in this ludacris video.....

I've been dieing to recreate the makeup in this video.... http://youtube.com/watch?v=l_UQYXV1mc0

specially the glossy black eyeshadow the girls have towards the end of the video. But I can't get it right. So far I tried mixing shimmer and black eyeshadow(which changed the color and it didn't look black anymore) and I tried a cream eyeshadow by h.i.p. which doesnt dry with any type of shine or gloss and, it doesnt even look black but more of a dry and dark gray.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get the same eye makeup???

What sort of black shadow were you using? I've never made shiney eyeshadow, but MAC's carbon is the blackiest blackest black ever. Shouldn't change colors when you mix it.

My recommendation would be to look at ALL the aspects of your makeup technique.

What primer do you use? What brand of eyeshadow?

If i was asked to do this makeup for a shoot, this is how i would tackle it(2 possible ways)

    1. Urban decay eye primer, apply the black and blend, then take a loose mineral makeup with sparkle, i'd bet a silver or grey would work, and dust that OVER it. THe Primer should keep the black from blending with the color.

    Alternately, i might try

    2. Using a liquid eyeliner to color the black on your lid, blend it as much as you can before it dries, and then dust the shimmery color over.

Reason i'd recommend a loose mineral for the shimmer is because it tends to show up a LOT more, and with it being loose pigment, is easy to load on the brush pretty thickly without smearing into your other color.

For shiny black, use Kroylan liquid eyeshadow.

Damn... I'm about to start using this stuff on the regular. Even though it's theater make-up and it's probably a bytch to get off...I'm looking at their products on ebay and they even have water resistant bronzer!!

Shrinkle is a good person to buy from. I know her personally and she's never let me down.

I've always acheived that look by just gently dabbing on a clear lip gloss as my last step... the lasting power absolutely sucks (especially on a hooded "Asian" eye), but it works.

Have you ever heard of eye gloss?
I found some by calvin klein but I don't want to buy it without knowing exactly what it is...and for some reason I can't find that info on the web.
But I'm definitely going to try the shimmer powder. I'm guessing that's what they used for the video since the shine of the eyeshadow is only visible when they blink...and it's kind of a wet look. I'll need some really good bronzer too, that doesnt streak. I use the powder bronzer they sell on the victoriassecret website and, when I sweat the ish runs. It ends up looking like a nightmare...

Any suggestions for a good face and body bronzer?

Yes, vaseline is how you do it! Just please, don't go to work w/it or out clubbing. You will look like a mess in no time. People really only request me to do their makeup like that for a photoshoot, since I am there to constantly fix it.

Yes, hence why I will only do it for one's photoshoot. Or music video, but I'm not cool enough to get booked for those gigs (musicvid).... yet. I got the skills, but no network for musicvids as of now.

I have always wanted to create that look to, I think it is so hot!

My friends suggested vaseline too, and then I was looking at the urban decay website and found this

    http://www.urbandecay.com/Look.cfm?ID=59

If you look at this look they say to apply the black shadow wet and use the eyeshadow transforming potion.

I have never used it but it I thought it may help. I sure wish I knew if it worked because I would buy it. Actually knowing me I will most likely buy anyways. I am such a product whore..lol!!!

Hey hun these products will help to achieve the glossy lok but with a littl emore staying power than the vaseline trick...

    -MAC multi purpose clear gloss
    -YSL glossy touch
    - Lancome fantasy tubes (glossy shadow) - you will have to get these on ebay though as they were limited addition. I used to work for Lancome and they work pretty well.

Or you could use Make Up Forever grease paint or MAC creme colour base in black... might not give you too much high shine though.

I work for MAC and half of the artists I know (including myself) believe the Vaseline achieves the look better esp. in photos. The other half, well they still swear by th MAC MP gloss.
Try both! See what works for you.

Yea hun I agree with you... I just think that the gloss will be more appropriate and longer lasting for the club

I dunno, vaseline might be a good idea.... The smudged, serial killer, psychotic look might make me some money. The guys would be too scared to turn my crazy ass down. j/p But I don't have too much makeup and I really don't want to go out and spend a wad on something that might not work.....

    So, so far we have....
black powder or liquid eyeshadow w/ mineral shimmer powder
    black powder with gloss
    powder with vaseline
    and a few others

I think everyone should try one and report back....we might have a new trend in makeup!!
