    Default 40's and 50's music

I used to always straighten my hair. Recently though I have cut most of it off for the summer and keep dying it darker brow (its naturally brown but its now almost black with a little aurburn tint to it) . Since it is shorter and naturally curly I have been able to leave it curly a lot more often for work and make it look really cute. I have a of a curvy, girl next door build and look. At work we have to wear dresses and I always wear fishnet thigh highs and a garter belt. Quite often lately I get told I look like a 40's 50's pin up girl . It seems to be a hit, esp. with older business men. I just finished listening to dancerwealth and they talking about branding yourself. Well my thought was I could play up the 40's 50's pinup girl thing with the music I dance to on stage. I am struggling to find a strong handful of songs to suggest to my DJ. I already dance to candyman pretty often which I think is a good one.....any other good suggestions

Don't you feel my leg made me laugh. sweet instrumentals.

Are songs that might have an instrumental line OK? Like they're modern, but havea sax line and such?

If so, then Esthero's "if the mood" and "wicked little girls" can be fun.

Also, stray cats are somewhat more "rockabilly", but are fun to dance to.

not instrumental as in no vocals, just as in having the arrangement that evocative of it... Either way, check out those songs. You might also look at top 40 songs that sample from "oldies". Fergy's Clumsy is the first one that comes to mind(has the horn line from "the girl can't help it"). You might also enjoy Hooverphonics 2wicky. Its somewhat more downtempo, but it can be easily worked in-i've never had a DJ say its too slow to work.

Something like that would probabyl go over better at your club than doing hardcore big band music.

Will try to find youtube links for my suggestions before i leave.

You've probably heard it, but there always seems to be a good crowd response to the Brian Setzer/Gwen Stefani cover of the Elvis/Ann Margaret tune "You're The Boss"
