Default French Pedicure: How much should it cost?

I've never had a French Pedicure and I wanted to give it a shot. Toes with little white lines look so pretty! But I'm not sure how much a french pedi should cost. I see prices listed at around between $30 and $40.... that seems ridiculously expensive, it's not like I have 30 toes (I know manicures cost $10 or $12). Am I missing something? Why is painting a toe so pricey?

My place is $30. A ped is usually $20, but it takes more time and talent to paint on the white french. That's why there's an upcharge. It's very nice looking, and I frequently go for the french if I'm not in love with a particular color.

Down here a pedicure is around $20-$25 and with a french tip it's a few extra bucks. They also have deals where I could get a mani and pedi for like $30-$35.

At most of your typical walk in nail places it cost around 25-30 bucks for a pedicure. If you just want the polish and not the pedicure it shouldn't cost more than 10 bucks. Just ask for the polish only.

If you don't want the pedicure you can usually get the French polish for about $10. Just make sure you go to a nail salon and not a spa or you will pay mega bucks.

My place charges $5 extra for french on toes. Or its $10 just for polish without pedi.

Most places the have a regular pedicure and a spa pedicure, but if you don't specify which one you want they'll give you the spa one. The only difference is that you sit in the big massage chair vs. you sit in a regular chair and stick your feet in a small footbath. The difference is usually like $5-10 difference. And then for french ped there's an increase too. Where I go I pay $23 for a "regular" pedicure with French.

$13 at my place. $10 for pedicure plus $3 for the French tip. Its kind of in the ghetto though. They do a great job but it isn't a luxurious spa environment. Manicures are $7 plus $3 for the French tip.

The far away place I go charges $20 for pedicure and $3 extra for french, so $23.

But there is a more convenient place right around the corner that charges $33
    so meh.

can you ask for 'polish only' for your hands too? I had a manicure once and was completely squicked out by the little hand bath and cuticle-pushing and all. I was like "noooo! All I wanted was some wine-colored polish; get my hands out of this nasty foamy water crap and leave my poor cuticles alone." But I would love to have someone do my polish 'cause I'm a mess with applying it.

this is funny to me because i go to the "hood" to get my pedicures done--oakland, ca, because they seem to know how to scrub a lot better than the uppity suburban places. the place i go $12 for a perfect french pedicure. now my NAILS on the other hand, i get those done in a fairly expensive salon...$28 for a fill. but i always give her about $35 because she's been doing my nails forever and never charges me for a broken nail or anything extra....

plus im not paying somebody $30 to torture (tickle) me for 15 minutes!!

I always tip my nail lady $5. I just found out she's been lying to me about the prices so that she wouldn't get a tip off me. :/

Edit: This was meant for Bloop. But hey, it fits.

about $12 every 6 months for polish. i do my own. it's really easy. get a nice pinkish-beige and french tip polish, and you're good to go, outside of regular pedi tools of course. i like sally hansen 10 day.

i used to use the little sticker guides, but it barely takes any practice to learn to do it freehand, and it's a whole lot faster! not to mention how often the stickers would leave residue behind or rip up the basecoat.

keep the line really narrow. it looks better. if the base underneath it has had time to dry and get hard, you can use a fingernail to nudge the polish into place if it's a little messy and crooked.

In my Jersey hood it costs $20 for a french pedicure, & they did a good job. That includes exofliating the feet and all. I got it done yesterday and thought of this thread.

I love my new nail salon, they do a great job and it's so cheap! Got my french manicure done too with crystal nails with the UV gel for $30.00
I think it's really $35.00 bc the guy said for me he'll only charge $30 bc of the old mess of acrylics I had on before from the previous salon.

Anywhere I've gone to get pedis the job can range from less than $10 to $35 not including tip. The reason it goes so high is because they're 'spa pedicures' meaning they massage your legs and feet and do all that other work. If you're just getting a paint change, it can be as low as $4.

I should do a tutorial about a DIY french pedi. I do them by myself all the time.

Please do! I'm boycotting getting pedicures because my polish won't last a week!

Anyways, the upkeep was killing me so now I'm trying DIY but I've never attempted a french pedi. I can't even keep regular polish off my toes.

I might do that tomorrow! Mine constantly chip, so I figured out to do it myself in between my twice monthly pedicures (my nail maintenance is sometimes $150 a month! OMG).

I fucking love french mani pedis. It screams classy bitch, and I mean that in the best way. You always see them on strippers who bank, cut throat real estate agent/lawyer/sales rep types, and trophy wives.
