    Default no insurance, no money

no way to see a doctor. But I have been having chest pain off and on for a few months now. It started hurting again last night and won't go away. Left side right above my breast, sharp pain that hurts a lot worse when I move, but layign still makes it just a dull throb. My left arm feels weak and jellowey. Also below my breast, left side around my last rib my stomach hurts, pressure pain..it feels like somethign is swollen in there and pressing against my ribs. I feel like I have to sit off to the right to take the pressure off and be comfortable. That's right where yur spleen is, and I wonder if my spleeen is enlarged and that is the pressure I feel. I dont know. But this chest pain has me really worried. I have to sit or lay perfectly still, even if I shift my leg the movment makes it hurt really bad.

There's no way I can go to a doctor because I dont have the money to pay for any testing. I get a student loan in June...I can go then...but that's over a month away from now...and it hurts now.

    wahh. need health insurance.

Emergency Room, woman. They have to see you even if you don't have money. And don't say that you can't afford it. You need to go.

^^ Agreed. They have to see you and you can always set up a payment plan after. I have mine set at $100 a month from my ER visit last year.

Dont let the money persuade you from seeing the doctor. I did that and by the time I went I was seriously f*cked up.

Find out what hospital in your area is the hospital for indigants (aka poor people). In Milwaukee area, its Foredert Memorial.

They will see you, as will any emergency room, but at the end of the year they will write off your visit if you prove you can't pay it.

But if you can't figure it out, fuck it man. You need to see a doctor. Chest pain in general is NOT GOOD. Just go to the ER and worry about the bill later. And PS, if you let this situation get so out of hand that you get taken away in an ambulance, your bill will be even bigger...

Sweetie do not delay this.. go to the ER. They will allow you to set up a payment plan.

God forbid if it is an emergency you will have to go to the ER anyway which could end up costing you a hell of a lot more.

If you're a student-you might have coverage you don't know about, even for ER visits. Make sure you tell them this and get the Charity Care (or whatever they call it there) forms , just in case. You might qualify, you never know. Please go the ER.

sounds stupid, but I'm scared to go Every time I go to the Er, they can never find anythign wrong with me.
So Im scared to go anymore becaue no matter what, they find nothing wrong, and I end up with more medical bills on my credit. I already have over 30,000 grand in medical bill sthat are in collections. Sure, a few more thousand wont make matters worse..but it's embarassing to go and then they say nothing is wrong and I have thousands of dollars and wasted hours for nothing.

I just dont know what to do.... I dont feel good at all.

Okay, this may sound stupid, but-are you going to the same hospital each time? There's one near me I will NOT ever ever ever, even if dying go to, because they are jerks and couldn't diagnose leprosy on a leper. I go to a different one, even if they are religiously affiliated.

I've had the same prob though-I went around passing out for a long time before some one finally diagnosed me as hypogylcemic, instead of just saying I was nuts.

Chest pain like that sounds almost like angina. My Dad and Grandma get it. If that's true, you need nitroglycerine spray and a good cardiologist. You may have already had a mild heart attack.

it went away now..but I told my bf if it happens again I will go and get checked out. An ekg and chest xray cant hurt just to be safe side. Im thin, but have been a very heavy smoker for 14 years and dont have a very healthy diet. When I go to dr. Im definatly gunna ask for a script for Chantix to quit smoking. Need to stop that crap.

Maybe you should make an appointment to see a general practitioner, or just go to a general clinic for low-income people.

    Stop smoking NOW.

The most lifelong serious smoker I know -- who's quit about fifteen times -- told me that cold turkey is actually the easiest way, when it comes down to it, and the way that sticks.

When you look at that pack, consider the fact that the next cigarette may kill you.

And, yeah, find another hospital. Ideally one that caters to low-income clients, but really any hospital where malpractice is not the name of the game.

    Some days, I hate America.

Ive heard really really bad things about Chantix. I guess it causes serious depression and bad mood swings. Do a google search on it before you take it.

The ER has to admit you. Also, at my local hospital in my hometown and several in th area, if you make below a certain income they basically "make it go away". When I was admitted once with no insurance they helped me file a claim and a special program absorbed my fees. If it happens again I'd get it checked out.

I already took it once but it made me sick so I stopped.

So I went to the doctor today, they ordered a stress tes,t blood tests and CT scan

Oddly enough, she was very itnerested to hear I previously took Chantix and that the chest pain started after that, and she said other patients have reported the same issues.... She was concerned. So yeah. We'll see what happens. Appt. isnt for 2 weeks.
