Burlesque vs Stripbar, the differences and does it have to be that way?

According to what I've read, seen or heard in Burlesque the girls actually dance and perform artiistically while they allegedly do not in the stripbars but just how accurate is this and why hasn't anyone come up with something that merges both and offers the best of both worlds sort to speak?

    Just curious...

In some places it's not worth it to be artistic. I've worked in clubs where creativity and effort result in nothing. I can hop on stage naked and wiggle around and make the same cash that I would if I were twirling pasties and dancing a routine. Depending on the club, some guys come to see pussy... and since tassels and dance steps don't equal pussy, they will be inclined to actually tip less.

Some strip club have successfully merged the two.

Ditto. I've had more than a few guys that don't tip while girls do crazy pole tricks and whatnot but do when they shove their pussy in his face...

I love the look and tease of burlesque but when I try to imitate it I often don't get a good reaction. "Why are you wearing so many clothes?"... still taking underoos off, just leaving thigh highs on. wtf

Have you never been in a strip club? Just like there are varieties and different 'qualities' of restaurants, there are different outlets for erotic dancing. There are bare-bones lap grinding, rehearsed meticulous choreography, and fusion. Get out there, you'll see for yourself.

Just checked out the link. What's the entertainer of the year - is it a competition among house dancers?

But is that what Delilah's is like every night, or just during those special events? I did my first fan dance ever at the CHeetah in Atlanta in the early 90s, but that was the one night a year when all the dancers who wanted to did routines instead of the usual, and mine was the only fan dance that happened there all year that year, I'm sure!

I don't think it's sad that strip joints are one way and burlesque shows are another way. Two different audiences, two different jobs. You can do BOTH at the same time; I did. I acted like a salesperson in the strip joint and an artsy performer in other venues. That's living, when you can do BOTH, and don't have to choose.

I think the old system in which there were stars and chorus girls was hard on the women who just needed to make a living. I don't think it was necessarily preferable. I'm really grateful that I was able to make money when I needed to by just showing up with a bikini and a head for sales.

I sometimes hear people say it's a shame burlesque is gone. I know there's not as much in every city as there is in NY and Seattle and LA, but that was probably the case back in the day, too. How can it be sad that burlesque has gone, when there's so much of it around?

Exactly. I guess if you were to go to university for these things, you'd be in art school for burlesque and business school for stripping.

Thanks for the info as I said I was just curious I've only visited stripbars about 2 times in my whole life LOL and then began to hear all this hoopla about Burlesque and got curious as to the differences between the 2 etc. Anyway that link you gave me is a joint the likes of which I've never seen or heard off! Is not even just a bar! It's a freaking Steakhouse restaurant! That means is not just drinks and peanuts they serve but actual food cooked by a proffesional Chef! That place is almost a Vegas style kind of place it is simply unbelievable!

Here are my feelings on the matter.

Thankgoodness I don't have to put into stripping a Burlesque routine everytime I hit that stage 8+ times 2songs a nite verse maybe 3 1 songsets topps. To much money in customs, to much effort in my freetime to come up with new stuff, and really at a stripclub it would not be worth it. Heck I won't do must my poletricks for them becuz my stage is over the bar and I don't want to hit a bartender or take the risk on slipping 1 day and breaking my head falling over bottles. Plus customers are always trying to get me to move slower so they can make eye contect and look at me verse enjoying the fact I can actaully dance (something my customers do appericate, but still) would it improve my money to put on a tease show at a place they want to see you naked probably not.

Heck I remember when the fetish dancers did thier antistrip routine where they kept putting on more layers of hot fetish gear and being so used to seeig girls strip I was like they did it backwards and when the outfits where hott it definately didn't compare to seeing thier dancers naked to me.

I love Burlesque--dated my share of BDancers, but they have aleast a week/2-3 days to plan those things and it's alot of work planning that gets money off tickets sold to see the show when people who want to see a show who are going to sit thur it and want to remember seeing routines..ect Way different then a customer who wants to see naked girls now and tip you cash to shake your ass in his face and go get a dance.

Maybe off-topic, but my burlesque school was just featured on CBS Sunday Morning this morning. Holy cow.

I used to perform witha burlesque troupe and I will say that purely because of the improv nature of stripping, I think (personal oppinion) burlesque is a lot easier than stripping. It's choreographed and polished performance with a somewhat lyrical influence while stripping is more like randomly rolling around on the floor and wiggling. I think I probably find burlesque easier just because all my life I've been trained to do polished choreographed routines with millitary precision, it's what I know.

Lemme tell ya though, it's super-handy to have some burlesque training when stripping. It helps a lot in the performance value aspect and the tease part can be fantastic for getting guys going. For a while it seemed one of our DJs was throwing completely random sets at me to see what would stick and one day he fed me I think it was Brian Setzer Orchestra or something and I just kind of went off like a bottle rocket.

My only complaint about burlesque sets is that I blow tonnes of energy on them and break a sweat which then means I have to haul my ass downstairs to touch up my makeup and re-straighten my hair.
