    Default drugstore makeup

I dont feel like going to the mall before work and I need an eyeshadow (gray), extender mascara, eye pencil, primer (for eyes), and thats about it.

I'm a MAC addict, should I wait it out or hit up my Rite Aid? Any opinions on brands I should check out?

There are some drugstore that are pretty much the same as MAC so go for it. If you can find a NYX eyeshadow they are pretty awesome. I'm not sure they have them but you can find 'em here. http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/Main_Pages/StoreLocator.htm I've read a lot of people on here like Milani or Prestige but I haven't tried them yet.

There was just a thread on here about Revlon eyepencils. Me loves them. Same with L'oreal Voluminous being a standby for many. Theres tons of mascaras to choose from at drug stores that are as good as MAC or a lot of department store brands.

I don't think any drug store brands make a good eye primer though. Does anyone else?

NYX is amazing seriously. MAC eye shadows are over-rated now the quality has gone waaaaaay down. I only by MUFE e/s these days

Also loreal hip is pretty good.

oooo, yes definately will check out the revlon. I don't think they have NYX at my local store I just reached in my makeup bag and have been using Diamond Lust by Revlon in Platnium Plaything to subsitute my MAC Forgery. I'm looking for a darker grey for my eyelid, I put the plaything in the corner and line the bottom with it.

Ditto! These things are awesome. No reason to buy other "khol" eyeliners when these are like 2.99

MAC totally is overrated. I looove MUFE shadows and some Urban Decay ones. Bare Escentuals has surprised me by making some halfway decent but affordable ones too.

BTW http://www.nixiecosmetics.com/ is a newer brand that I swear is just like MAC but cheaper. If you qualify for a pro discount (or can fake one) they give you 6 shadows in a pallet for free.

I do a lot of makeup shopping at drug stores, malls are closing by the time I wake up. Works out pretty good.

MUFE and UD deluxe eyeshadows are actually more pigmented than MAC. But they have their followers that refuse to use anything else, so their marketing tactics keep lots of $$$ flowing into the company.

Anyhow, if you want to try NYX products you'll have to email them your zip code and they will respond and tell you which stores sell their products. The list they keep on the site is definitely lacking.

You can check for locations on the website through the store locator.

You can also find NYX at Ulta.

Yup, yup, yup. Well, I think I've made it clear my agenda is to turn people against MAC and their overpriced drugstore quality.

i gave in and went to the mall. i have to disagree though, i think mac has some great shades that in drug stores you cannot find. lipstick, gloss, and shadow wise. plus, mac shadows are only maybe 4 dollars more than a revlon shadow.

however ladies, if you are looking for a lipgloss and your lips are constantly getting irratated (mine were always super chapped after using them) you may be allergic to the base in some of them. I found out lipglass from mac is based with jojoba and i am allergic so i switched to lipglee and its the shit! also some types of mac lipsticks are also based with jojoba.

Nah, I just think some people stick to the things they like and don't want to spend money on stuff they might not like. My friend who was a makeup genius introduced me to MAC so I've stuck with it. Of course I venture outside of them, but they are the pretty cheap compared to other brands.

Do a little research before spending the big $$ on cosmetics at department stores. For instance Lancome and L'Oreal are the same exact product that has been packaged differently. L'Oreal is usually about half the price, too.

Not all drug store brands are like this, so you definitely have to do a little research before you buy. But knowing what department store brands are being marketed for less at drug stores can be a budget saver.

The reason I'm upset with MAC is that prior to its purchase by Estee Lauder in 2001 the formulations were of a much, much higher quality. They got greedy and cut quality. Its more of the principal of the thing for me. They are alright *Ok, I'm done with my MAC bashing. I won't bring it up again* Wheew!

http://fakinggoodbreeding.blogspot.c...owns-what.html A great article on the subject of department store companies and their drug store counterparts.
