My friend had one when she was 32, she was fine. Don't know the details sorry.

Haven't had one but I think its time for you to visit the Ben and Jerry's thread to get some suggestions for post-surgery meds![]()

OMG i guess im not the only one who ALWAYS has strep throat....matter of fact, im suffering from the damn thing right now...well i'm in my last couple days of recovery. i seem to get it a couple times a year and it's a pain in the ass. my dr. was going to remove my tonsils last year because i kept getting strep, but she never did....now i don't have insurance, so i would rather just pay for the meds than pay for a freakin surgery. I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!
and AMAZINGKAT...after i ate that creme brulee last night, my mouth produced WAYYYY to much mucus for me to be able to swallow with a fucked up throat...nobody told me (until today) to eliminate dairy from my diet until i got better....oh well...either tomorrow or the next day...im finishing the rest of my 2 pints of ice cream, damint!
but i hope all goes well hun...let us now how it goes. good luck plus lots of x's and o's

Had it at 42! The recovery was fairly long, and I went back to work (talking on the phone, in my case) too soon. The result was some scarring in my throat that I can still feel today, several years later--if I stop to think about it. So rest, rest, rest.

My fiance has his out last summer. They're not kidding when they say you need two weeks of recovery. My man was two days away from going back to work when his throat started bleeding and had to be re-cauterized. Not surprisingly, he was home for another week after that. Don't push yourself back to work and school too fast.

I had mine at 18 (or 19?) and it took almost 3 weeks of full on recovery time and about 2 months of feeling like shit. It was terrible! My BA took about 2 weeks, and the recovery for that was so much more comfortable than the tonsillectomy.
Please listen to your doc and don't rush the recovery! Good luck!

Just curious, how much is it going to cost? I want my tonsils removed because I get tonsil stones. YUCK!!
Whoa reading this makes me not want to take mine out.

I got mine out at 18 and it was a bitch. I felt like I had horrendous strep through for almost 3 weeks. I didn't eat anything but popsicles and broth for 2 weeks. But it's nice now when other people are bitching about sore throats and strep I just have mild irritation and it was well worth it. Best of luck to you!!!

Oh man...Well, at least you won't be getting sore throats all the time like you were before....meh, that's as best as I could come up with to try to make you feel better.
I hope it lets up soon...

Also why is getting them out as an adult so bad?
