Default do you think ive got what it takes?

ok.. i've been wanting to strip for a while now, and i think i am going to audition at devil's point in pdx. i live in seattle but if i get the job i will just take the train down there for a few days a week. i think i will fit in much better down there, since i am quite the "alternative" chick.
has anyone worked there? what was your audition like? any advice?
i don't have any experience, but i am pretty confident and i've been dancing around my house and i think i can do it. eep! nervous!
here's a picture of me (pardon the cropping - had to cut out the ex-gf!)
so.. would you throw money at me?

*if you are not a troll... and i'm sorry for assuming you might be, it's just that we get a lot*....

-----------i------------- would drop all my money on you as a customer.

    that being said,

most of us alternative girls have it a bit difficult. while you'll probably make money off of a specific type of customer, you'll lose out to a lot of others. our market is very niche, if you know what i mean. a lot of the older guys with money are "afraid" or "weirded out" by anything non-typical.

for that reason, i'm holding off on more tats till i stop dancing. my hair is bright orange-red.. but i take out all my facial piercings for work. i only wear them when it;s really busy and i want to stand out, or when i know certain customers are coming in.

as far as your hair goes, you might need to wear a wig to get hired and/or work. there are tons of places to get really awesome quality wigs. whenever i wear one, most customers have no idea.

also, again, please come dance in tampa so i can be a customer. i need a dance from a girl with finck [email protected]!#

I just checked out their (Devil's Point) page and clicked on theis "Pics." You look like one of the models on one of their fliers (same hair style) so if that isn't you, I htink they'd totally hire you and i'm guessing you'd bank. You seem like you'd fit right in.

yes you will make money, but i would wear a wig if you dont have hair on your whole head....

i have a full sleeve and lots of other tattoos and i bank. i dress classy and dance to oldies and it confuses the hell out of people. find what works for you.

thank you all for your encouragement!
    no, i'm not a troll..
alright.. i'm gonna buy my train tickets and head to pdx thurs/fri... i'm thinking to go to ladies night at DP on thursday then audition in the afternoon friday. color me nervous.
add to that the fact that I've been bitten by a zillion mosquitoes... so i'm hoping they go away in the next five days. otherwise i get the pleasure of putting makeup all over them so they don't think i'm some sort of diseased freak.
i guess i'm mostly worried that i don't know what i'm doing. I've read all your advice and from that i gather: move slowly, be confident, exude sex.
now i just have to pick an outfit. gah!
i reeeeeeeally want to work there. sooo badly.
thank you again! i don't know what i'd do if i hadn't found this forum...

You have a very unique look, and pull it off well. At the right club, I'd assume you'd do really well!

I also love the "alternative" look. I wanted to punk up my look for awhile now, but now that I'm considering being a dancer in my town, I don't think the strip clubs here would hire an alternative chick. And if they did, there still wouldn't be that great of a customer base; unless maybe I started out semi-normal looking and then went alternative... but eh, whatever makes the most money is the look I'm going for. I live in a somewhat smallish town.

Anyways, I think you're hot! I also believe you will do really well if you're in a place where your look is considered the norm.

Okay, to be totally honest, I think you've got a cute little body, but you're not the type I would get dances from.

And honestly, if you keep your hair like that, you are REALLY limiting your customer base. I would strongly reccommend keeping it more main-stream at work and do what you want to do with your look on your own time....

I think that Penny's look is edgy, but still super girly and sexy....... So maybe something like that?

I hope I am not being offensive, just being honest.

Get a nice wig and you should be fine.

That's not an insult, just my honest opinion.

Portland is the perfect place for you. I think you are gorgeous and portland is more into that kind of look. DP and UJ would be the first clubs I'd try.

no worries about offending me - i am very aware that mohawks and tattoos aren't generally attractive to a wide base of customers. this is why i'm going to portland, and trying DP in particular.
the way i look is a big part of my identity and just like i wouldn't make myself more "normal" to work a desk job, i wouldn't make myself look "normal" to work a dancing job. *shrug* i dunno, that's just me.
but i see where you're coming from, girls, and i appreciate all your opinions

    Good luck!

I have to say that you probably shouldn't bet on making enough money at DP alone, though -- it is a small club with a limited number of night shifts available, and since you haven't danced before they might be hesitant to put you on them. You might want to try to work at a couple of different clubs to make the commute here worthwhile. DP also has the Lucky Devil club, where I assume your look would work just as well.

I get not wanting to make yourself look "normal," but as Penny has pointed out, the profit motive can be a powerful thing. Just something to keep in mind.

i kinda worried about that.. it doesnt seem like the type of place where you make shitloads of money (unless you're malice maybe!) ...if i got the job there, would it be acceptable to also audition at another place once i got the hang of it? is there an etiquette for that sort of thing?
    as usual.. thank you!

I'm not a dancer yet, but from what I've read and seen I really don't think it matters. I pretty much ruined my chance at one of the local clubs here (I wont get into that story lol), so I'm either going to wait a bit and get a new look so hopefully they don't recognize me, or I'm just going to audition at a different, and better, club anyways. So yeah, I don't think it matters! Good luck and definitely keep us updated!

You look like you'd get hired at DP -- however, they do take a while to schedule girls. I believe they schedule on Sundays for the following week? I had never danced there before starting there and they had me work 3 day shifts before getting to work a night shift. in addition they only schedule 4 girls max.

I would NOT recommend Union Jack's, especially as a new dancer. They charge high stage fees and have a lot of girls. Do a search, I have a few negative posts about my experiences there.

It is perfectly fine to work at several different clubs in Portland. Many dancers do so. Several DP dancers also work at Sassy's. You should check out as many as you can when you're here.
