    Default beach sun + scars

What can I do about them?

Its warm here and beach time like now or soon or whenever I'm not working so much. The sand and sun beckons me to lay out and tan. I'm worried about the scars from my lipo getting messed up because of the sun exposure. Do you think that putting like spf 50 on them will help them in the sun at all?

Yes, definitely put sunscreen on them. I kept at least 30 on my breast scars when tanning for the first year and a half, now I use 15. Actually, my PS suggested using chapstick with a SPF for easy application.

Hawaiian Tropic Ozone Stick is SPF 50, here's a pic:

That works great on scars and it is easy to apply and convenient. And applying a long wearing powder foundation with SPF right on top...helps add sun protection and stop the "oily melt off" that heavy sunblocks can have.

Won't you end up with a streaky tan? I mean, I know you're black but you still tan.

Yea I still tan but I'd rather protect the scars more than I care about streaking.

Couldn't you SPF your whole body then? Protect scars and streaky tan?

I think TM's skin is the same shade as mine, if I remember correctly from her pics. I'm a hardcore tanning fan myself... spray/fake/self... lol. But scars have a tendency to hyperpigment, so by putting a strong sunblock on the scar, things are probably gonna actually even out, and might possibly make the scars look like faint white lines that are almost invisible.

I had my flanks and upper arms done in 2001 and I used that method back then.

If she's going for a uniform light golden caramel, she should be all set.

Sorry for talking about ya like you're not here, TM

I'm not white and I tan so, I have to be very careful with my scars as well.

The only sun block that I use is skineffects by Dr.jeffrey dover spf 60. They sell it at CVS. It's a cream so I just dab it on any marks or scars before I tan.
