Default I think my house is haunted!

Seriously, I have the heebie geebies today! Here's my story:

About two years ago we moved into this house. About 6 months later things started happening. My daughters electronic toys would go off in the middle of the night, her lamps would turn on by themselves, etc..There was this one time I went grocery shopping and my daughter had fallen asleep in her carseat so I brought her in the house and put her in her crib. Well I went out to the kitchen to put the food away and I heard a sing-songy voice go "mommeeee" (like in the movies!) I assumed it was Kaia so I went to check on her and she was fast asleep, head buried in her pillow. That terrified me. I always have horrible dreams about this house. Last night my bf and I came home from work around 3 am and as we were pulling up we noticed the bathroom light on. I triple check the lights everytime we leave the house for this specific reason. I brushed it off thinking maaaaybe I left it on. Well we get in the house and our tv is on and I KNOW we didn't leave that on. I'm freaked out, my bf isn't here and my cat's acting funny. I'm so scared you guys. I'm on pins and needles!

Is this the house where those people vanished 11 years ago?

Relax, sweet. Lock all the doors, check the windows. Have a glass of wine and turn on the TV or put in a DVD comedy. You'll be fine.

I don't know if you are religious at all, but if you are, and if you are Christian I would try repeating the 23 Psalm a couple of times while walking through your house. I had some similar problems, in my old apartment, and after I did this I didn't have anymore problems. (my mom is super religious, and she gave me this tip). Oh, and after you are done leave your bible open to that page on a table, nightstand, dresser whatever for the rest of the time you live there, i know this sounds weird, but I promise that it should definitely work.

You can always find someone who is religious to preform a house blessing for you. She or he doesn't have to be Christian either, any religion can work. Interestingly enough, I have experience with this type of thing. Feel free to PM me and maybe I can help you out, or at least help you find someone willing to believe you and help.

you can cleanse your house using 2 herbs-- sage and sweetgrass. Sage is used to cleanse all energies from the house, sweetgrass is used to create positive energy in the house. It's not religious, it's spiritual. You can probably get sage at whole foods or a new age store, or an herb store if you have any nearby, it comes in bundles, white sage is the best smelling. Light the end until it smokes and then just walk around the house fanning the smoke on everything, corners, doorways, windows, open space. Think positive thoughts while you do it. Sweetgrass you can find in an herb shop or new age shop, i haven't yet found it at a health food store, it looks like long grass braided into a long braid. It smells kind of like cinnamon buns in the oven when you burn it. Light that and wave it around everywhere and you should notice a change in the mood of the house.

I'm really sensitive to spiritual activity, and I've sensed spirits in almost every house I've lived in, a couple times there were negative spirits and I always cleansed the house with sage and had no problems, except for one time there was a really stubborn sad lost spirit that was living in the attic my bf and i were renting, and that was super scary. He didn't want to go away.. i swear it pushed me down the stairs while I was carrying a basket of laundry and made me fall.

I am not really what anyone would consider religious either, but I was raised Christian and I own a bible. I had never really glanced at a bible since I was like 12, and then when incidents like this started happening I was willing to try anything. Fortunately I still owned a bible, and I performed this little ritual which took care of everything. I am still not religious, and I really don't even consider myself Christian, but drastic times call for drastic measures. Would you be willing to even try this, even though you aren't Christian? (sorry if that is a dumb question).

I don't want to stir up anything, ya know?? Or open a door I can't close. It's not that it's hurting anyone but it freaks me out. I saw a ghost when I was 7. I lived in a house that a man had comitted suicide in. I don't ever want to see a ghost again!

And that's entirely possible. Thus why it's preferred to find an "expert" as opposed to trying something you've never done before. I don't wanna sound superstitious or anything, but it's just like anything else where it's just better to find someone who has experience. Especially if you have no spiritual or religious training. Again, I don't want to freak you out even more, but you could even do a search on the Internet for "paranormal investigators" in your area, or even a local coven of witches (or Wiccans) can help. Or contact some local church officials.

That kind of stuff really freaks me out. I would have to move out. I don't know how to cleanse a house or anything so I have no good advice but good luck. I wouldn't have been able to survive in a house knowing it was haunted for 1.5 years.

Moving out is always an option. Unless, of course, the "haunting" is really being caused by someone who lives there. Some people believe that your own energy can cause things like this, especially if something traumatic has happened to you, you are under extreme amounts of stress, or you are in a transitional phase of your life. Your "energy" can cause weird shit like this to happen, or attract spirits and ghosts, however you want to interpret it. If that is the case, then moving might not help, but it really depends on what type of ghost, spirit, energy, or whatever, you are dealing with. Hence why it would be better to contact someone who is spiritually inclined to help you figure out what exactly is going on.

Maybe your house needs a Feng Shui tuneup.

Worrying about things only steals your happiness from you.

So I should probably be an electrician when installing hidden cameras. What of it?

That is another excellent suggestion. Eastern traditions also address these things effectively. It's interesting how in almost every religion you can find help for this type of problem.

And fear/stress will definitely only make things worse. As hard as it may be, you have to approach this with courage and confidence. Fake it if you are really shaking on the inside, and eventually you'll see that as long as you aren't fearful, the activity might actually die down without any help from others.

Some spirits simply want to co-exist with you and they aren't much of a problem if you aren't afraid of them.

Cleansing your house with sage won't open up any doors you don't want to.

Things like this freak me out too;Slight threadjack
When i was about 11 i awoke suddenly in the night and was just driftin off to sleep when io heard this horrible groanin/screaming. The only thing i can describe it sounding like was those black demons from Ghost.

The next day my mum and dad had heard it too and told me it was coming from outside.
A year or so late we r in a new house and my mum and dad tell me taht the noise was comingfrom in the house but though it was our dog and didnt want to scare me.
Not long after that i awoke suddenly again and heard the noise this time there seemed to b more than one voice thou. It was only me and my mum who heard it that time. that was the last time anyone else heard it.

Few months later i had a friend sleepin over and i awoke suddnely like before and heard it, it was so loud but nobody else heard it!
Me and my friend went to a weekend thing with school and we were just coming back from the bathroom and we heard the noise she looked white and we both ran off unable to sleep the rest of the night. it was like it had followed me!
The last time i heard it(knock on wood) was when i was about 15, my parents were out shoppin and i was in my room playin with my dog and suddenly my dogs ears shot up and he slunk into the corner of my room. The noise came it was so loud but this time i wasnt scared i shouted at it to go away and put my music on to drown it out. And to this day i never heard it.

Sorry for the threadjack but this is the one thing that i could never explain. I'm usualy quite sceptic to ghost stories and such but this was just so weird. Anyone ever experience anything like this or know what it was?

^^Sage works very well for minor stuff, I've found-like bad vibes from people who've been in the house. Black salt works to keep out bad neighbors-not sure how it works on non-human residents. Also you could try washing down your house (especially in the rooms the ghosts tend to be in) with 4 thieves vinegar or holy water.

Is there any faith you have? Angels? Dead relatives you believe watch over you? I've found keeping something you have faith in nearby, or at the door to your house helps, no matter what it is. I set up my religious stuff as soon as I move anywhere. Just be careful if you do employ a pro-as with all religious/spiritual endeavors, there are bad people out there.

I lived in a house where they had to have a professional come in to exorcise the huge amount of spirits that lived there. And even then if you used the bathroom at night, something would turn the taps on and off. Ghost pervs, I guess. I've had so many ghost experiences it freaks me out now.

    ghosts are just that....ghosts....

talk to them, tell them they are bothering you and to leave you alone. if they move your things ask them to put it back. if you just act like they are regular people they are much easier to get along with.

i have lived in 2 houses that were haunted.

Beats me, twice and years apart I heard what sounded like a very effeminate male, one time he called my name from my porch when I was standing at my bus stop and then years later I was laying in bed getting that horrible 'watched' feeling and that same voice came up behind me and right in my ear went: "Boo!" in a sort of teasing way. Freaky!!

There was also a period of time right before we all moved out of that house, maybe for a month or two, where I would constantly hear the garage door open. It was an old garage and it made a very loud, long, distinct, familiar noise that I had heard multiple times a day for over ten years so I sure as hell knew what it sounded like and there was nothing I could mistaken for it. It began sporadically, I'd hear it open and I'd go instinctively go look out the window to see which parent's car was pulling in, and there'd be no car, and the whole door wouldn't even be open. So I shrugged it off uncomfortably. Then, the dogs always had the same excited tail-wagging-run-to-the-door reaction whenever the garage opened and someone pulled in, and they started reacting to it when I heard it and there was still no one there and the door was still closed. It happened to my sister a few times too. Then, it got to the point where I was hearing the garage door open anywhere from 5-50 times a day. And it was so real. Once we moved out I never heard it again.

There were also times where we'd hear each other(family) calling our names, when we were home alone. I'll never forget when me and my sister were home alone in the bathroom together standing in front of our big mirror and we both heard my father call my sister's name from the living room. We just stared at each other horrified! We were home alone!

OMG there's so much more lol.

I wish I could see a ghost since I don't believe in them. I would love to believe that we lived on after we died, and if I saw a ghost that would be enough proof for me.

It's all energy. Trapped, left behind, or your own expressing itself.

    Cleans the house, cleanse yourself.

And something's telling me windchimes. Or something else beautiful and light. Why? Dunno. I've been up for hours and drinking lots of caffeine.
