Who is looking forward to seeing the new Iron Man flick? Who is just as dorky as me and will see the first show?

It got a very positive pre-release critic review here in Chicago a few days ago.

I'll probably see it Friday afternoon. ( Who wants to pay $10+ to see it with hundreds of teenagers?)

I just wish it was going to be in IMAX. It seems like it would be perfect for that format.

my brother (big comic aficionado), my son, and i are going to see it this weekend. boys' afternoon out.
the buzz is that it is awesome! i had doubts initially about downey (kinda like the michael keaton situation with batman) but he looks great.

Will most likely wait for DVD-like I do with all movies lol.
Definitely.

I'm so out of touch
i thought this was some sort of remake of
Tetsuo:The Iron Man
DRILL PENIS!!

I get to see it tomorrow... You know you're jealous. lol

exactly! my concern really wasn't about his personal demons or his acting ability, it was more the "suaveness?" of stark vs. downey. i wasn't sure he could pull that off as i've never pictured him as that kind of character.
but i definitely agree, his personal history probably made it seem like a walk-thru for him rather than having to really act the part. kinda sad actually but i've never doubted his acting ability (actually, i think he's one of the premier actors of his generation), just his personal demons.

In addition to Robert Downey, Jr. as Anthony Edward "Tony" Stark, this movie has:
This movie looks ridiculously entertaining. My hopes are high.
- Gwyneth Paltrow as "Pepper" Potts?
- Terrence Howard as James "Rhodey" Rhodes?
- Jeff Freakin' Bridges as Obadiah Stane?

Now I just have to find a time my entire crew can get together to see it.
Fuck it I'll go by myself and go with them later.
Guy #1: I'd totally hit that.
Guy #2: Dude, I'd hit that so hard whoever could pull me out would become the King of England.
Is there room for one more?
Just as excited as I was for Transformers, although I expect it to have more substance. Robert Downey Jr. ... as Iron Man! Remember him in U.S. Marshals? Gothika? A Scanner Darkly?!!!
He is so delightfully twisted. I anticipate he will add complexity to the character. Can't wait to see it;

There was a pre-showing here on Guam! It was amazing! Really great! If you're really into Marvel comics, there's all the cool references to other Marvel stories. Look out for Stan Lee's camio! I thought it was just as cool Transformers. My husband and I are total comic book nerds to we talked about it the whole way home.

Just got back....I found it to be slightly boring. Like....the plot moved very slow, not enough action and I found my mind wandering. My boyfriend explained to me that Iron Man wasnt very popular unles syou were a real comic book nerd, so they ahd to provide the backstory, and there will be more iron man movies, which I look foward to seeing.
It wasn't bad...and the technology was cool as fuck, iron man was cool as hell, espicially his stripper flight attendants
It was an ok movie. Just wished the plot moved a bit faster. Less story more action.

possibly the one movie I want to see more than transformers

Transformers pales in comparission. I really liked Iron Man and yeah, I am a comic-movie nerd.
I thought it was a risky move to cast Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, but it worked. He has never looked better and his comic timing and natural acting ability conquered.
I also felt his transition from being the player that he was into a humanitarian was believable.
I really enjoyed it, but Batman rules!
I am waiting for my 'Dark Knight'.

epic effing movie! full of win!![]()
i ditto corey's assessment of downey, he really was amazing in the role.
while the movie might've plodded a bit here and there (gotta tell the story to the laypeople, meh), the armor-effects MORE than made up for it!!!![]()
i was hoping for a bit more combat effects but i understand the need to compress it. i'll be waiting for War Machine the next time around (psst, sneak peek!).
...and wait until the credits to finish rolling at the end of the movie.![]()
Right there with you- and yet somehow, I keep clicking on the thread;
