Default Green/Eco Friendly Cleaning- homemade products

I know there are a few others here besides me interested in being more eco friendly so I thought I'd share some info on how to make some general homemade cleaning products.

For windows, mirrors, and stainless steel

    1 cup of vinegar

    1 cup water

A couple of drops of lemon juice

Combine all ingredients and pour into your reusable spray bottle.

Multi-Purpose Cleaner For kitchens, baths, counters, garbage bins, and more

    1/2 cup baking soda

    1/2 cup white vinegar

    4 cups of water

Mix together in a large bowl, let the foaming stop and pour into a reusable spray bottle.

    Antibacterial Spray

1 cup water 20 drops pure essential oil of lavender

Pour the water into a spray bottle.

Add the lavender essential oil and shake to blend.

Spray on the surface and let set for at least15 minutes, or don’t rinse at all.

    Makes: 1 cup spray

I always make my own products too

it's so cheap, and way better then anything I've ever tried from the store.

I don't really do mixes, i just make it as I need it.

I generally sprinkle a tiny bit of baking soda on the surface of whatever I'm cleaning, then scrub it with a wet sponge.

Do you know of a green way to remove cat urine/smell from a carpet?

^ I haven't tried this myself because thankfully my cat is very good about using the box but I did find an aswer to your question.

Cat Urine Odor in Carpet: If necessary, use a black light to locate the stain. Use a 1:1 ratio of vinegar to water. Soak stain well, then blot with (recycled) paper towels or an old towel until all liquid is absorbed. Repeat if necessary.

I like to soak them in water with about 1/4 cup of lemon juice for a few minutes
i used to dream militant dreams / of taking over america / to show these white folks how it should be done
i used to dream radical dreams / of blowing everyone away / with my perceptive powers of correct analysis
i even used to think / id be the one to stop the riot and negotiate the peace / then i awoke and dug
that if i dreamed natural dreams / of being a natural woman
doing what a woman does / when shes natural
    i would have a revolution

For those who are want to make a veggie wash

    1 tbs lemon juice
    10 drops grapefruit seed extract
    2 tbs baking soda
    1 cup water
    3/4 cup white vinegar

    1. Mix well in a sprayer bottle.

    2. Shake before use.

    3. Spray produce (except mushrooms, because they absorb and retain water) and let sit for 5-10 minutes.

    4. Rinse well

Great thread! I was just looking under my kitchen sink thinking there's got to be a better way around all these cleaning products.

My mother swore that newspaper was the better way to clean windows along with the vinger and water solution.
