    Default Cleaning makeup brushes?

I bought a couple of Benefit makeup brushes last year. I loved them at first but now they are dirty and gross and I was wondering how to clean them. Should I just wash them with soap and water or is there any other way?

I LOVE this product. I haven't ordered it through this website (I get it from a makeup artist), but this is it:

Whenever I go to do my make up, I just spritz some of it on a kleenex and then clean my brushes that way. It smells so good and dries instantly, so I use it every time before I apply my eye shadow.

    ^^^

Ditto. A gentle shampoo is fine. If possible hang them upside down to dry.

I've been told that equal ratios of alcohol and water will clean brushed well without damaging them. That's what the lady at sephora told me. I use benefits quick-change in between.

I don't use shampoo or soap on expensive brushes. I use MAC or Sephora makes a brush cleaner too.

Here is a video from EnKoreMakeup on YouTube that shows how to make your own brush cleaner for little to no $$$.

The guy is a makeup artist and he has a lot of great vids on YouTube about how to clean brushes, and different makeup techniques.

    A text I got:

I clean all of my brushes at least once a week. It grosses me out to see the build up so sometimes I do it every couple of days.

This thread reminded me to clean my brushes. I don't have the opportunity to do it often because my schedule wouldn't allow enough time for them to dry...but I have 4 days off in a row this week!! Yay!! Clean brushes!!

Does using conditioner on your foundation brush (rinsing it out thoroughly) cause breakouts? I want to see if I can save my crappy, scratchy Bare Minerals Handy Buki brush!

I have been cleaning my makeup brushes cheap and expensive with a gentle shampoo and conditioner for years and they are still like new.
