I'm leaning towards foul play too.
But either way it makes me hate the government even more.

I have a hard time buying that it was suicide...
She was always very vocal about the fact that if anything ever happened to her, it would not be by her own hands.
She was EXTREMELY close to her mother by all accounts, I just don't see her killing herself where her mom would be the one to find her... I think that was a warning to her mother, who was likely her closest confidant.
Although its not unheard of, females, particularly females of her age, typically do not choose hanging as their method of suicide. Yes, it does happen... but its not common.
Even sentenced to 4-8 years... at worst she may have served what? 2 years? And the money she could have made from the experience and after the fact....
Its foul play... gonna be hard pressed to convince me otherwise.
!

She should have named names immediately so they had nothing to gain. She could have filled in the blanks later and still made a mint.

I have a feeling if it was foul play, the police aren't exactly going to put a lot of man power to find out who killed a madam. Sadly enough. I feel awful for her mother, finding the body like that.
Another reason it MAY have been foul play. Ms. Britton the former college professor turned escort who worked for Palfrey and was arrested with her allegedly killed herself a few months ago. One suicide, O.K. but TWO and in a high profile case involving powerful Washington politicians and other movers and shakers is HIGHLY suspicious.
Problem- Florida cops are notoriously incompetent and their lab work is notoriously slip-shod ( don't buy the "Miami CSI" bs.)
Btw,suicide by hanging is not too hard to fake -Use a carotid choke to render her unconscious ( any bruise will be attributed to the ligature used) and just string her up and leave her.

A lot of good discussion going on here
I can't believe it was suicide.

My intuition tells me it's not suicide, and I'm normally not a conspiracy theory type. As soon as I saw it on CNN my guts screamed LIES AND SLANDER lol. Reading the other posts here now it makes it even less likely it was suicide... Grrrrr....

Like many here I have my doubts about suicide--there are just too many people who could potentially be hurt by her revelations, too many enemies there waiting. I hope that the truth will come out eventually.
Remember when Larry Flynt threatened to expose many in the halls of power, after he'd exposed the Speaker of the House? He'd done it as a retaliation for what the Republicans were doing to Clinton--if I remember correctly, Flynt said he had twelve more names ready to go. I don't know much about Flynt, but he seems like a scrappy, streetwise character, probably not easily intimidated, and I've always had the feeling that he was warned away from continuing his crusade--that someone threatened his life or the life of someone close to him. In all of history, murder for the sake of power is a constant, and I don't think this is any different in Washington, despite the civilized veneer. In time, I think we might find that this is was the fate of the DC Madam.

There's always 'forced suicide' as well. 'Hang yourself as I have this gun and know your mother is in the other house. You don't want her hurt, do you?'

Still not buying it. If I have dirty information on you, theres still a good chance that you can keep me from telling it.
If you kill me, and I left some kind of fail-safe to let people know the information, it's out there.
Not to mention that I personally would be far more likely to beleive something someone left behind in case of their death, than if they just outed a bunch of people. My logic being that they might out anyone for their own gain, but why would they lie after death.
