    Default Wrinkle creams/potions/suggestions?

I'm 25, going to turn 26 in three months, and I have fine lines in my forehead and some starting around the eyes. Fortunately customers still guess me younger than I am, but I'm taking no chances. It's time for me to start fighting aging.

What I do now: I use Pro-Activ now, the cleanser/toner/lotion combo. It works really well. I try to use sunblock during the day as a sort of under-makeup moisturizer. Sometimes I use self-tanner on my face but it always makes me break out really bad. (GRRRR)

What should I do? Should I go for microdermabrasion or laser treatments instead of trying creams?

    I'm clueless.

It's a good idea to hop on over to makeupalley.com and read the skincare board. It has helped me immensely.

It seems that the things that work best for wrinkles and ageing skin are as follows:

    1) Vit. C serum (does not work for everyone, but most)
    2) Retinoid (retin-a is prescription, or an over the counter retinoid product)
    3) AHAs and BHAs (alpha-hydroxy-acids and beta-hydroxy-acids/salicylic acid)
    4) Sunscreen

There's so much to know about these alone, and how they work with your individual skin, that I would suggest just going to the site and telling the board about your skin; asking for recs. Or do a search to see if anyone else with your question has already asked it and gotten good info.

I would say to not do the micordermabraision treatments until you have fully educated yourself and have tried some OTC (over the counter) treatments. PPl are raving about both the Clarisonic brush ($200) and the new Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvenator. There is so much info over there...I can't begin to scratch the surface.

People are also giving rave reviews to almost all the Olay products these days. Most of those seem to be worth a try. There's a great review section there also, it's the go-to place for most people on the web for real reviews.

    Best of luck!!

For the eyes I like Prescriptives toning eye cream. Works wonders but is a bit expensive. Kohl's new eye cream (day and night in one package) is really good. I don't know what to do for the forehead though. I always had little wrinkles there.

I heard that taking CoQ10 supplements maintain your skin youthful. I'm not sure how true that is, but look it up. I know lots of facial moisturizes have that ingredient in it.

If you're not ready for Botox, I highly recommend the Argeline cream from Makeupartistschoice.com. You smear it on once or twice a day after moisturizing (wait a few minutes for it to absorb if you're putting makeup on over that). It's a muscle relaxant similar in function to Botox, but it's $50 for a jar that lasts forever (I only use a fingertip-ful a day and the jar is an ounce or two--months later I'm still a little more than halfway through). The effects are cumulative and it's just really good stuff. The best part is that if you want to try it before getting the big jar, you can get samples for $5 each that will last you a week or two.

This is roughly the worst thing for your skin that you can do.

Rubbing alcohol is incredibly drying and much too harsh. Vaseline is petroleum-based and clogs the pores like nothing else.

This might "worK" for particular individuals, but no way would I ever, ever, ever recommend doing this as a face routine.

Facial skin should be treated with products WITHOUT alcohol and with moisturizers that are NOT petroleum-based and which have a molecular structure beneficial to absorption without being comedogenic. Jojoba and emu oil are two that are excellent for skin (and hair, even).

Lots of black women ,even tyra banks use Vaseline on their faces etc , I am not balck but I have found that my black girlfriends skin care routines always work best for me

Even in Jr high I remmeber some girls taling about using peroxide as a toner .....everybody is different not always into the "trendy" stuff .

Also its very cheap to buy so that is nice too .......

It's not about what's "trendy", it's about what's healthy for your skin. Peroxide is a horrible toner too, even worse than rubbing alcohol. If this routine does something for you, then fine--but I guarantee that it'll turn 90% of people who try it into a fine-lined flaky zit farm with mega clogged pores, for good reason.

I would like to know about wrinkle-banishing too...I have my first one, a vertical fucker between my eyebrows. It makes me look angry!

Are there any laser treatments that are effective on wrinkles?

I have to agree. Alcohol is very bad for the face. It's very harsh and drying. That's probably why you add vasoline to your face, to replace all the lost moisture. but that will clog the hell out of the pores.

No, I would NOT recommend this routine to anyone.

This post is 100% correct! A great C serum such as skinsecuticals in the AM topped with a photostable sunscreen and a retinoid in the PM. Avene Eulage is a great one. It make take about 6 months to see results but it DOES work.
