No I have it and have had no issue being Fertile Mertle. Honestly I didn't know I had that till 6 months ago. I was always told I had IBS. Then I was tested. My brother has it and so does my mother. Obviously you can't take the meds while pregnant but I don't recall any issues during pregnancy. And getting pregnant wasn't an issue with anyone who I know directly has it.

Sadly, my mom has chrohns disease. When she wanted to have her last baby they told her the problem is not concieving but keeping the pregnancy. She has to take alot of drugs to keep the disease under control and the doctor told her the drugs are not safe for the baby.so basically she had 2 options , go through with a pregnancy without the drugs and risk her own health and possibly even die, or continue the drugs and risk a misscarriage or baby born with birth defects. In the end she decided not to have any more children. However, it all depends on how bad the chrohns disease is.

I am not sure if this is related but....

I had a friend with Crohn's disease, and when she had her son, she became paralyzed from the waist down. Something happened with the epidural (although the hospital said it was just a freak thing, not their fault) but she never gained back sensation or use of her legs. Now she's in a wheelchair

They told her it very well could have had something to do with her Crohn's. Just something to think about!

I actually don't know if I have Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. All I know is that I get bleeding ulcers in my colon and I'm unmedicated. I control it through diet and mental pain reduction techniques. Anyways....

It took me two years without any birth control to actually get pregnant. I don't know if that was good luck or something to do with my disease. I guess we'll find out should we start trying for #2.

However, I did notice that my condition disappeared from month 3 onward. I had an iron gut. No food was too rich, too cold, too creamy for me. I could finally go out for dinner AND go a movie afterward without panicking that my stomach would explode twenty minutes into the show. My mother and grandmother are afflicted with the same/similar condition I have and both had no trouble with their tract during their pregnancies. My doctor had her fingers crossed that maybe pregnancy would cure me for good (as it's not unheard of for that to happen) but it didn't. It's not nearly as volatile as before, but it's certainly not gone. You may get lucky like me and find that you don't need the medications after all.

I am not a mother but I do have crohns, now been in remission for 14 months thanks to raw food no medications or flares whatsoever

I didnt have any problems concieving but have suffered a few miscarriages, wether they were crohns realted or not the doctors didnt say

Most women have a lot less symptoms whilst pregnant, many reporting 9 months of no symptoms being able to eat without discomfort etc. So thats one good thing.

Would say get you condition as stable as possible, before you start to try for a baby

What meds do you currently take?? Steroids?foams?Asacol/predfoam/pentasa??

    Wishing you all the best

i am completely medication free and have been for about 8 years. i went on herbal meds while weaning off Imuran and now i just contol it through diet only. i only get flare ups when i eat gluten or dairy otherwise i keep pretty well. im hoping i dont have a problem but i have had quite a few occasions where we had unprotected sex and i didnt take the morning after pill and didnt end up preggers....but i guess that doesnt mean its because of the crohns disease it could mean any number of things or maybe it just wasnt my time

My best friend found out she had it while pregnant with her last daughter. She had problems, and after the baby was born was in the hospital for 3 months and had surgery removing part of her intestines.

Shes pregnant again and says shes having no problems and is on no meds. Shes worried that after the baby is born it will act up and shell be hospitalized again. I can let you know how it goes in about 2 months...

And this girl can get pregnant by LOOKING at a penis... with chrons...shes a baby making machine. Pregnant with number 8.

I don't know about it, but i think you should talk to a doctor or RE about it before you start trying, that way you will have more info, and a game plan if things go badly.

Good luck!!! TTC is the most stressful thing, I hope it goes quick and easy for you!
