Default How Long It Takes To Get "Into The Zone"?

This question intended for cust. & dancer: How long does it take to "get into the zone"? eg- a certain feeling for how the tone of the next several minutes is going to be. For customers- is the right connection being made, or is dancer just going through motions? Do things get better on subsequent dances?

For dancers: How long talking and/or dancing do you formulate a pretty good idea of how remaining minutes will go, or if (mainly he) will get dance, or upgrade with you? Will session be pleasant or sheer torture?, etc.

Myself( I don't consider myself to be the fastest learner), convo-wise, the tone is set/reached in 1st 1-3 minutes. Dancewise, halfway into 1st dance is generally it, maybe halfway into 2nd dance tops. Whatever is (or isn't) happening by then isn't going to be improved upon in subsequent dances. There are exceptions to rule ( 1 upgraded session got much better, but initial trial dance was at a good level to begin with)

Yeah, the tone of the interaction is set really fast. By the time we exchange names and shake hands I have a good idea if you really want a dance, or really don't want a dance, or are on the fence. Those on the fence, I sit down and chat, and know within thirty seconds or a minute if it's worth continuing. If the guy does definitely want a dance, it might take me a minute or two of conversation and/or a minute of dancing to figure out what he likes about me and what he likes about dancing. But again, it's pretty quick.
