Default I am here crying because I am so confused

I hate feeling confused and lost. I wan't to finally start going to school but have no idea where or how to start or what. Im completely lost BF told me to make an appiontment with a counselor at TWU to find out what credits will be credited or some crap like that I can't really remember. I have really bad memory and even when I try to listen it literally goes in one ear out the other and im starting to second guess myself and im feeling really scared. I know I will have to go to a community college or something because I don't remember anything from highschool, I got my GED when I was 15 (I made really stupid choices when I was younger ) and remember nothing from that. Im starting to wonder if I can even do it I don't know if im too stupid or something and just doomed or something .Im rambling I know just needed to get it out there. I don't know .

You can do anything you really want to do. You should go to a counselor, just make an appointment and they will walk you through it step by step, that's what they are there for! I would definetely recommend starting at a community or junior college just to get a fee for school again. You can do it, it just seems a lot scarier than it is. Good luck

I'm a firm believer in the fact that anybody can do anything if they want it badly enough. Nobody is ever too stupid for education. Someone could flunk out of high school at 16 and wind up being a neurosurgeon at 35 if they really wanted to be.

Go see a counselor. Upgrade your high school courses if you want to. Many colleges offer refresher courses for people who have been out of school for a long time. Take advantage of them so you can recall the basics and ease into your program slowly. Community colleges and universities have all the resources for you to succeed and they want you to do well.

B21Q , I feel the same way .....I start thinking I want to go to school and sometime I even go so far as to call one ,then I chicken out .

A few months ago I even went and sat down with an enrollment guy and still chickened out ......I have alot of guilt about putting my daughter into daycare .....

Now I am like dying to go to this make up school in LA , I emailed them and they called me and emailed me back , I was reading this email they sent me and they need a huge essay to be accepted and like .....thats the reason I almost failed HS ....damn essay's .....so now I am like completely intimidated

I am with you girl , its hard to have that confidence . For me its my daughter , like i am not some kid , if I go to that school in LA I i wll be moving across country and I have to support myself out there .....so thats pretty damn scary .

Let me ask you though , what do you have to lose ? Other than self esteem , if you fail your classes or just cant handle the stress of being back in school .....whats the worse that will happen ???

You are still very young. I agree that college high school courses are probably the best idea. Also you can just take general courses. I didn't decide on my major until I had 3 years of college (and I still have quite a long way to go!) Good luck to you!

People never ever believe me when I say I cheated my way from fourth grade to graduating early from a magnet (like higher than honors or AP) high school with college credit and a 3.89 GPA. I'm a fucking idiot and I'm in college.

I don't know my times tables/ fractions or even how to add or subtract without writing it down, I don't know anything about any place other than the U.S. but I don't know state capitols. I don't know anything about science, not a damn thing about any war, president, or law, I'm just plain ignorant and I'm doing fine in life.

I haven't cheated in college and have done fine. I even made the deans list. I'm not trying to brag I'm just tying to prove that college isn't scary at all. Granted I don't go to Harvard or anything, but really if I can do it anyone can.

I say try it out. If you don't you will always wonder if you could have done it, in my opinion thats worse than doing it and then finding out it's not for you.

When you do get accepted into a school. Only start out with one or two classes just to get yourself acclimated. I absolutely love being back in college!

Hugs sweetie! I am going through the same thing and I already have a degree but I want to go back, however I am scared I will fail.. I dunno why.

Definitely book an appointment with a counselor babe they will talk through everything with you... and then just start of slow; like maybe one or 2 classes.

I read your posts on SW and you are far far from dumb you will do great in school.

Also remember that college is nothing like high school. I HAAAATED school but I loved going to college so much that I miss it now.

What are your interests? Are you creative? Are you a problem solver? Athletic? Do you have a dream career?

Base your study course around your interests and career aspirations; it will be a more fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

Ok I feel better now I took a bath and did some stuff around the house. I just all of a sudden started panicking because I know this week I have to make these appointments and go do it. I also have a two year old and need to find affordable childcare or something . Thanks guys in taking the time to share your thoughts and tell me it is not that scary or that you've been in the same boat, it made me feel alot better. I'm still scared shitless but at the same time excited.

Hmmm Idk I can't even think at the moment I just know that since I was younger and when college would pop up I always said nurse because that is what I would like to be. I don't get grossed out by blood and guts or anything like that and in extreme situations like as in someone dying im pretty calm . I dont know why sometimes I think something is wrong with me.

as far as child care goes, some colleges with child development degrees also offer child care. You should ask about that when you meet with the counselor.

Nursing is an excellent field to enter.
