    Default Fat Girl Stripper

    Hi All!

I joined about a week ago, after telling my husband that I want to be a stripper! I am 22, have a daughter and am pursuing a BA in accounting. I work a regular job too. So here's the deal: I am currently about 50lbs overweight, but I have always had a nice, proportionate shape. I figure if I work it out from now til fall, I will be all good to start dancin' my skinny ass around a club here in the Chicagoland area. What do you think? Any ideas for clubs?

Also, I have read a lot of threads about not making any money stripping/earnings going down. What's the haps?

Thanks ladies! I have read so many of these threads and I think you all are awesome.

need pics, but you could probobly get a job at a club that is less high end then once you start losing weight then you could try higherend clubs if you wanted. they are not always better money wise. i have worked at dives and banked.

With numbers, it's so hard to tell. And then with weight, it's only one part of the whole. I guess you never know until you try, and the first time is, for everyone, a big challenge!

If you've never danced, I don't know if it's a good idea for you to go to a "dive" bar, though I completely see the rationale. The reason I say, you'll inevitably be learning what "dancing" is and about your potential in dancing from your experiences, mainly. A seasoned dancer can work at the dive bars without taking it personally and without needing to follow the lead of other dancers to learn, but I cringe at the idea of a newbie walking into one of those places and getting a glimpse of "how this works".

As for me, if I'm not comfortable with myself, I don't do well. If I were 50lbs. overweight, I'd work on the losing the weight (intensively) until I feel ready to dance. It wouldn't matter the type of club. That's me, though.

As for money, some make it, some don't. There are many more dancers, but the ones who used to make money are still the ones making money, though with the recession (?) there's less going around for most businesses overall right now. It's all about sales skills and appearance is important, truly, sorry to say.

ehh i dunno. we need pics. i weigh 20 more pounds than i look currently. everyone carries weight differently.

although... for someone to call themselves a fat girl stripper right off the bat doesn't seem very um, authentic.

I'm 30 pounds above my ideal weight. I do just fine. I'm booked out til october actually with good show price (I'm a show girl mainly as opposed to a VIP girl, although I do the occasional shift). I'm not skinny by a long shot but I have huge boobs and am quite muscular underneath a 'comfort layer'. I think tone is more important than weight as well as how you carry it and above all confidence is key.

I started at a small club and moved up (a little)...and although I'm not convinced the money is better overall, I like the new club better. I liked where I started though, I didn't feel like i had to be perfect to work there.

Thanks for the input all...even those of you who called me, "unauthentic", was it? You guys are the shit.

I call myself fat girl stripper because I am thinking like a stripper even tho I am not physically ready yet. Just to clarify.

I just left the gym, and I will be going again tomorrow am. I can't wait.

And I think I might try a "dive" bar at first, just to see what being on stage is like. I believe that I can get hired on at a higher end bar down the road.

I'm black. And while I don't like to think that everyone is judging me by skin color, I see from some of the threads that it might make a difference (sadly).

Do you think it will be a huge problem somewhere like Chicago?

Also, any recommendations for "dive" bars to start out at around here? I want to go scope the scene (I'll tip, I'll tip!).

    Much Love,

    Mommy Dearest

For many balck women, it's not a bad thing to have a few extra piounds. If you're going to work at white clubs then you probably do want to shed a few pounds but if ou wan to work at blck clubs then it may not matter so much. As long as everything is in proportion and you're not sloppy, then I think you'll be fine.

when i said it didn't seem authentic it just meant that you were either a jokester, or you had low self esteem. that was just my opinion.

    have fun and good luck.

When you say Chicago do you mean The city proper or the burbs as well? To be very honest if you are more than 20 lbs overweight, you won't get hired in the city. As there are two clubs. The admiral and VIPS.

For those that don't know, there are NO small clubs in the actual city. In fact there are only two clubs completely in the city limits. Both are pretty strict hiring standards, although having worked at one of those clubs I've seen girls at least 15 lbs more than "ideal" to what they tell us to be get hired. However, they were experienced.

If you have a car I suggest looking into clubs that surround the city.

I agree with Sophia. I suggest you stay clear of dancing in the city. And honestly (based on experience) I suggest you stay clear of any of the Large clubs in the surrounding suburbs also. I'm a little "thicker" than the normal size (tiny) dancers at these clubs and I've honestly been turned away right at the audition.

I would recommend you try something called "Fashion Show" bars. I've been working independently for the past 2 years and I work in numerous Fashion Shows around the Chicago burbs and I've actually made more money there than working at VIPs and Scarletts.

Send me a message if you'd like more info.

...this may seem way off topic, but if you're 22 going to school for your BA, working a full time job, and going to a gym what time does that leave you for your daughter??? Not to be a total bitch, but maybe mommy dearest was an appropriate name....

^ I had 2 kids, went to school and worked at night and still managed to raise two kids. You can do it and not be a piece of shit mother. My eldest was in school during the day and my youngest was in day care while I attended school from 10-2pm. And spent 3-8pm (bedtime) at home till I went to work. Weekends were completely mommy and children time.

It is possible to balance life you know. I don't understand why that would even be brought into this thread. What a shitty thing to assume.

I don't think it was shitty to assume. My mother worked a lot as you described and I terribly hated it. It was my opinion. Besides it was a question too.

What were you supposed to do? Not work and then have your children starve? Apparently according to the other poster you were.

Anyway, back on topic: you sound really motivated, MD, and I think your plan to work out over the summer and look for a stripping job in the fall is a good one.

I don't know anything about the Chicago area, but I just wanted to say, not all small "dive" bars are dirty places where I'd be scared for a new stripper to go. I started at the diviest of dive bars, and it was actually very clean -- it was so small that there were no dark corners for anything to happen in, and management was extremely vigilant about keeping customers hands off the girls. Sometimes the largers bars are the ones who can afford to pay off law enforcement to let the rules slide.

Take your husband or a male friend with you, check out some places and see where you feel most comfortable. Good luck!

I haven't read past this post yet, but have you considered looking into clubs or legit agencies that cater to the niche for more voluptous dancers? I know there is a market for that in Chicago, perhaps you could do some searching around for that on the web or phone book. There used to be a store in the evergreen plaza called Le Femme ( I haven't been in Chicago for a few years) if they are still there, you may want to see what they know about the scene too.

What about Scarlett's? I haven't been to Chicago in years, but I worked there for like 2 days years ago and it was within city limits. Also, there are peep shows in the city too if that's something you'd be interested in.
