Oh I see.
Damn I hit it on the nail J.

I'm sorry for getting so defensive, I thought it was a toddler and that J was being mean but I can see it now. My bad.

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

No not toddler. I had a pacifier when I was in kinder hehe. I wouldn't give it up and when I finally did my mum and I both criedLOL.
My cousin breast fed until he was a toddler. Yeh no this was a much older kid, much older.
I saw a woman in the same shopping centre kick her kid once too. This was a small child and it was very upsetting to see. People stopped and looked and then she threatened people who were watching. She was feral.

SO did anyone else see this?
I can see this in private but public? a 10 year old hs a very independent personality I would imagen the kid not wanting to nurse in public by that age, I wonder if there was more going on.

Well I don't know, strange.
Umm what I have seen that has made me intervene was a mother cussing at a 4 yr old because he fell and I actually got between the mom and the kid and said "are you ok?"
Instead of the mom getting all pissed, because I wanted to say" hey wtf is wrong with you?" she broke down and spoke to me about the hard time she was having"
At times people can become very overwhelmed parenting plus life itself has well you all know.
The other was this man left his kid in the car while he went food shopping and I waited until he got back and when he did he drove off, kid was not in a car seat or anything. I did not have a cel and I felt really strange going to a pay phone and leaving that kid alone in the car so I wrote down the licence plate number and called the cops. The cops came took down a statement and told me "look it's going to be your word against his it's not even worth it if you do anything" so I said "ok"

U know what happened with my cousin and her son once? He was throwing a tantrum when he was about 2 because they walked past an ice-cream store and he wanted an ice-cream and my cousin said no. So this older lady walked up and told my cousin to buy him the ice-cream. My cousin said to mind her own business and this woman turns around and tells my cousin that she hopes when her son grows up he beats her up!! wtf![]()

Ridiculous, seriously.
This was last May or so. It was about 78 dgrees out. We all went to the grocery store and at checkout we saw this little boy, maybe 16 mo absolutely filthy w/ ONLY a diaper on! I don't know about other states or countries, but over here they keep the grocery stores pretty cold (to preserve the food, I'm guessing). That kid must've been freezing his ass offI had on shorts and a t shirt and I was freezing. Everyone was looking, but noone said anything.
Lola, I agree w/ your carseat sentiment. I'm one of them carseat nazis too![]()

I don't think it's okay to go up to anyone's parents and tell them anything. Not all parents understand things that are going on, and that can be dangerous, but it's not your job to be that kid's parent. Unless you see something immediately dangerous to the child's wellbeing, like they're bleeding profusely or something and the parents don't notice (that would be pretty crazy), you're out of line trying to tell them what to think about it. I think it's definitely inappropriate for a 9 year old girl to wear that kind of shirt, but that's up to her parents.
And I think parents should be more proactive in their childrens' lives, and purposely learning about the things they're kids are involved in before it becomes a problem.
I only take things to a personal level when I see abuse or neglect going on. Whining or other bad behavior is annoying, but tolerable. It's when I see the parents being completely incompetent that I feel it is my place to say or do something. Doctors and therapists can lose their licenses if they fail to report abuse, and I think all people in society should take the same stance.

I have a friend who has a younger sister with Down SYndrome. One day, he was out with his mom and his sister. Some crazy lady who spoke very broken English started screaming at his mom that she shouldn't have taken drugs while pregnancy, and that she's a horrible mother. I would have cunt-punted that nosy bitch. I'm sorry that people can't control their genetics!
seriously!! DS is not a side effect of drugs! what a crazy bitch!!!
i have no problem saying some thing politely, ive done it a few times my favorite were:
the first was in mcdonalds. a little boy, probably 5-7, was rocking the display case with the toys in it. i calmly told the kid kind of jokingly that if he kept rocking it it was gonna fall on him, to which i got a dirty look from the kid. as the mother was yelling at me for correcting her child the display toppled over on the crumbsnatcher and knocked him out cold.
the second was in the grocery store. i saw a guy smack his son on the bottom (not hard) when he kept asking if he could have icecream. i really thought nothing of it because god knows ive got worse for less. when i went to the register the guy and kid were in front of me and the kid was now crying. i asked the kid what was wrong and he said "my daddy slapped me" now the guy whips around and starts yelling at me to mind my own business and if i have a problem we can take it out side. i pay for my stuff and tell the cashier to call the cops. when i get out side the guy is waiting for me, and starts swinging. we both ended up with a black eye and he ends up with a broken wrist, knee, ribs, knocked out and his kid taken away when the cops showed up. the kid and wife, who was waiting in the truck, were more than willing to talk with the cops about all the stuff he had done to them once he was cuffed and in the ambulance.

Even if it is an abusive situation, I keep my mouth shut because the kid is going to get it later due to the parent being embarassed. If they beat their kids in public, I'd hate to see what they do in the privacy of their own home. Therefore, as horrible as it is, I'll either keep my mouth shut or report them. Nothing in between.
