    Thumbs down Always hungery

Seriously, for the past 24 hours my stomach NEVER feels full. I'm eating healthy foods, and about 3 hours between each meal, and my belly is CONSTANTLY telling me it's hungry. I can't STAND it. It may have to do with the fact that I just started my period, or that I just started a veggie diet. Or a combo of both. Does anyone else ever get like this?!?! At the rate my stomach wants to eat I'll be Orca sized in No time.

When I eat healthy I'm always hungry. Be it salad, fish, fruit if there's not carbs are "real" meat like sausage I never really get full.

It's sucks especially with work because I don't want to spend 14 bucks on a salad there but I don't want to eat a ton right before I go in and get super bloated.

It should be something you get used to, though. Oh drink a lot of water, as always.

I get like that too.. on and off. I eat a ton right before my period. I second the upping your protein intake though. I ate 2 meals today and was hungry like an hour later after each. I just ate one of those light tuna salad lunch kits (20g protein) and I'm full!

I have the same problem from time to time - usually right before my period.
I bring a can of plain almonds to work, and try to drink a lot of water. Also, I try to eat yogurts or cereal if I am hungry at night, rather than sweets. That usually works.

Loveandluxury has a good suggestion with those tuna lunch kits. I might try that tomorrow because I know that time of the month is coming!

Drinking chicken broth (I use the bullion cubes) in a glass of hot water obviously, is actually really filling. Especially when you're "hungry" but you can't think of what you want.

I've only had vegetable broth in the hospital (need I clarify that it was NASTY!) but I assume it'd work too.

The sodium level sucks but with only 10 cal with two cubes and kills the hunger pains and getting in a good dose of water...i'll risk a little bloat. Better than binging on chips or candy or something that will actually pack on pounds! It's also really hard to binge on the broth because it's hard to drink A LOT of it.

My body doesn't maintain sodium, so I actually have to eat more than the average person when it comes to salt. That may work well

plus, do you drink enough water? it stretches your stomach out, and helps you feel more full when you drink it.

F-I-B-E-R. or, have you tried just EATING more??? i know that sounds stupid.. but sometimes i think i'll be 'full' from a lot less than my body actually wants. when i DO eat what my BODY wants, then i'm not hungry anymore. funny, that...

This is a helpful link if you're considering the 6 or so small meals per day route:

I already eat small meals per day so I know it's not that. I really think colettec is more on the right track. I'm going to slightly increase my fiber intake, that and I think my metabolism and I aren't in agreement. We'll have to have a discussion later.

I know how frustrating this can be! The strangest things make me hungry... for example, water and apples, which are supposed to be filling, increase my appetite. I never feel 100% full when I eat very healthy foods, but I've grown to like it because I don't feel all bloated and gross, either. It sucks never being full longer than 2 hours, though. I hope increasing your fiber intake helps you.

I agree that you may need to increase your fiber AND protein intake.

Also If you have only just started a new diet regimen then it may take your body a little while to adjust.

^^ totally... some peoples' bodies use different sources of food as more efficient 'fuel.' Even as a little kid my parents would have to keep cheese slices on hand during car trips because if i didn't get my protein i'd be a whiny little child... eheh these days it's protein bars/kashi.

this may sound weird, but yeah- try rounding out your meals with more veggies/legumes (lentils/beans) or something like Bran or Fiber1.

Start carrying around Kashi. (not the crunch kind/7 grain kind... just the regular kind) It's got a shitload of fiber ANd protein and is all complex carbs for a carb source- it'll keep you more full in between meals if you need to snack. Unlike most other high-protein/high fiber cereals (like granola), it's also VERY low-calorie. and tastes awesome.

there's a really good book about battling your body's weight/metabolism and finding the balance but i can't remember it.

I've got soo many books about that. Struggling with bulimia did NOT help the metabolism. However, it's coming along nicely. I think there's just been a big change and I wasn't ready.
I've been eating plenty of bean stuffs, and I'm eating a low sugar/carb/calorie granola from whole foods with kefir on a daily basis. That seems to be helping as the first meal in the am.

you could try a tablespoon of coconut oil (I know, I know-- that thing's like duct tape to me) or cooking your veggies in co.

your body is doing a lot of work breaking down all the fiber so it might be that too.

oh, edit: plus cayenne is an appetite suppressant-- which really affected me when I was switching my eating habits.

AJ, since you just went vegetarian, I think it could be lack of protein. I'm vegetarian too, and I ntoice that when I'm not getting enough protein, I'm freaking hungry all the time.

i get like this for like a week of each month(usually week before or when im on my period) Im pretty much like it now so im just trying to eat healthier stuff rather than bad stuff which ive allowed on a few occasions ill admit.
i also go the opposite sometimes i will have a week where i hardly eat, i feel full which is strange as i definately love my food a little too much.

No, not pregnant...not a possibiltiy. For several reasons, but also the originial post was the first day of my period. It seems to have gotten better. With the more horrid the cramping gets month to month, the worse the cravings get.

I had the same problem before I started eating a low carb and low sugar diet. I feel like my appetite is under control now and I don't really get the cravings anymore.

keep yourself very busy. I'm hungry all the time, but I have little time to actually get something to eat.

I have the same thing happen at certain times of the month. I just eat small, high fiber and protein meals (and I'm veg, it is possible). Then I keep good snacks around, like a handful of raw almonds or Kashi granola bars or low-fat yogurt with a handful of granola. It really helps with the energy and the cals are super low so you can still keep your weight under control.
