    Default Pissing My Money Away!!!!

Gosh! I've been dancing nonstop for over 2 years now and I feel like I don't have much to show for it. I only work about 3 or 4 days a week, 4 hrs a day. I would say I make about $1,000 on a good week and no less then $800 on a bad week. I don't know if these are good numbers or not but I know for sure I piss my money away. What is a good way to save?

Step No. 1 is to monitor your spending. Where are you "pissing" it away?

agreed ... take the time to write down your monthly 'necessary' expenditures as a starting point.

That is not bad as a 'salary' on a moderate cost of living location. You have to decide if what you are spending it on now will be worth it to you in the long run. And to do that, you have to know what you are spending it on.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

The age-old advice "Pay yourself first" applies here. Once you determine your necessary spending (rent, food, insurance, etc.) you should take a portion of what's left and AUTOMATICALLY put it into some financial vehicle. The basic idea is to grab that investment money out so you're not tempted to "piss" it away as you go.

If you find saving to be really hard, just take a 20 dollar bill and put it in an envelope every time you work. Then at the end of the month, deposit that, along with all your change from your change jar, into your savings account. It might not seem like much at first, but 20 dollars from every shift will add up by the end of the year, and at least you will have saved SOMETHING. After you get used to saving, you can up the amount. Or, instead of 20 dollars, put a certain percent in for savings.
Also, like others said, monitor your spending. A latte here, a dinner out there, can really add up at the end of the year. I would suggest reading the book "smart women finish rich" by david bach for some motivation/inspiration.

The best way to save is to spend less than you earn.

Girl, you know a great way to save is to just start having your money taken right out of your checking account every couple of weeks with something like a sharebuilder account. Here is what I do to save money. After I work I put my cash in a cigar box when I get home and the next day beore I do ANYTHING I hit the bank and deposit it. I know better than to keep it on me or I will spend it. Then basically I have money taken right out of my account every two weeks. You can find a lot of places online for investments. The other think you might want to do is just go to the bank daily and deposit your money into the savings account and not checking account. If you are like me and keep your money on you ..you will blow it so just make sure you hit the bank as soon as you get any cash and you will see how much you can save. I hope that helps girlfriend.

There is a ton of female strippers on this site that have given me great advice on how to improve my own shows as a male stripper.

If any girls out there want to know the difference between male strippers and female strippers and how we work, I created a site that explains how guys become male strippers and what women should do when hiring a guy.

I don't know if maybe you're too busy to work longer hours, but 4 hours is a really short shift. If you added like 2 hours to each of your shifts you'd could use that extra money for savings.

At a certain point though, after you have made rent and food money, *how much* $ you make doesn't matter as much as *how well* you manage it. I think that the OP is looking more for tips to save the money she makes. I know for myself that when I danced, even if I had a great night it didn't mean I saved much more.

No starbucks, no late night tacobell or breakfast with the girls.

Instead of just going shopping have a monthly shopping amount. You get $300 a month to spend on whatever you want - or $150 every other Saturday.

Its really small things that help and its really hard to break the shopping habit. I get so anxious that I want to shop just for something to do - I dont even need anything...but its like smoking - if I can focus on something else the feeling passes and Im content again (and have more money )

    The general idea of TRMIB:

Save 10% of your earnings to 'pay yourself'. You pay the grocer, the petrol station... how much money of that is yours to keep? You're working your ass off and keeping nothing for yourself! You've paid everyone but yourself! (I ended up saving 50% because I'm a greedy employee)

20% goes to paying off debts. Make sure you contact your debtors and make them aware of your situation.

    70% goes to living.

At some point the other 20% from debt will go to buying a house.

Yeah I adjusted it to fit me. Mine is currently. 50/10/40. My living expenses are shockingly low to what I earn so there's no reason I shouldn't have done this sooner. (My debts are only 10 because I have one more payment anyway and it was all precalculated by the loan office with a fine on early payments)
