I've been thinking about this lately. The new DancerWealth newsletter came out today with a story about assuming that just because someone is a certain race or looks a certain way, they're cheap. Then Avalon's blog talks about making excuses for poor earnings, often based on assumptions.
I've seen a hundred times right here in Hustle Hut, things like, "Don't spend time with time-wasters," and the like. I even tend to pride myself on the fact that I'd rather sit alone than sit with a cheap bastard. Some of the girls I work with have even spoken to me about this. I THOUGHT that I was doing the right thing; after all, why would someone pay for your company if they can get it for free?
And I guess this is my basic question: We all make assumptions about who is most likely to spend money on us. "I'm blond with big tits so I know that Asian guys love me and will spend lots of money on me," or "Young rednecks only like skinny Barbie-doll look-a-likes and won't spend any money on me." We're all guilty of this to some extent.
Are we being smart salespeople? Or are we shooting ourselves in the foot by passing up potentially good opportunities because of our own snobbishness or assumptions?
