    Default Austin: Palazio

There aren't very many threads on this place so I'll write a little review.

So last night was my first night there. I walked with 200$. Pretty bad but I was trying to check things out and get a feel for what was acceptable there. Plus I have never worked a Wednesday and there were very little people there (compared to where I'm used to) and wanted to check out who were just club regulars were, stuff like that. Basically I wasn't trying my hardest and could have probably made 100 more.

    Pros:

The "feel" of the place was really friendly.

The VIP room/ booths (100 per hour) seemed really popular, but remember that in Austin you aren't paid just for getting into VIP, so they could still be time wasters.

No smoking before 10pm and they actually have a ventilation system. I can finally breath at work!

Small. Only 3 stages, all with poles.

The management seemed fun. Everyone seemed happy in general.

Great music until the end when it started getting too "metal/screamy" for me.

    Cons:

VERY small. I haven't worked a weekend so I don't know how this place fills up, but it looks like it would be standing room only really fast.

A lot of the guys were the young, alternative people. I include this in the negative for me because I vastly prefer older men.

I'm not sure what the money potential is like here. I kept getting "wow you're a really good sales person!" from people. It was a compliment, but after one song asking for another and then saying "I think you do!" and starting to dance again...that's not really anything spectacular. It just seemed like the guys there weren't "trained". This could be good and bad though.

Dressing room: Lots of counter space/ mirrors. Had a tanning machine and a shower (no idea if they work). Had a condom machine (half full btw) and a vending machine which I'm pretty sure had lube in it...I thought that was strange. The ladies bathroom and the dancers bathroom are the same.

House Fee's: I think it was 10$ before 7pm, 25 from 7:01-7:30 and five dollars every hour after that up to fifty.

Tip out: The managers of coarse said 10 to each but the girls said 5. "a couple dollars" to the DJ, which I uninterpreted as 5, as well.

Overall I'm not really sure on this place yet. It's so chill though that I wouldn't mind working there on days I need something to do and might as be working, but don't feel like driving an hour away to my other club. I'll post how the weekend goes later!

They have such a nice dressing room, but the condoms/lube must have popped up in the last couple years since I worked there. Do they have booths like Sugar's now or is vip still more restaurant style booths? I don't know if Scott (a blonde guy) still works there, but he was the sweetest manager ever.

I've been to Palazio only once, but I was quite impressed with what I saw.

I went on a Monday night, expecting it to be slow-to-dead. I quickly learned my surmise was wrong when I arrived and had to wait 20-30 minutes just to find a parking spot. Apparently, there were a number of guys there for birthday and bachelor parties that night. So the place was hopping. I don't know if it was an atypical night for the club, but the clientele seemed to be, by and large, well-dressed and primarily between the ages of 35 and 55; there were few, if any, young, alternative types.

I thought the facilities were clean, well-maintained, and quite classy. And there were numerous attractive dancers working that night. I was very impressed with the diversity as well. Overall, the talent on display was solid.

The vibe was friendly and low-pressure. So my overall assessment of the place was very positive.

Austin is one of my favorite towns to visit. I just wish I could make it down there more often.

Joplin-Best of luck in the new club. I hope the transition goes smoothly.

He sure was! What a doll. I wonder what he and his equally sweet GF are up to now.

Palazio doesn't seem small to me -- larger than Sugars, probably equal to YR. The main room does have a more open layout than those places though. I hope it works out for you so you don't have to drive an extra 25 miles, Joplin!

Scott is still there, he's the one who hired me. He actually threw a stack of ones all over my stage and made me feel like a bad ass, ahah.

The dressing room was nice, but I don't like sharing the bathroom with girl custies, but obviously not a deal breaker.

The parking lot was surprisingly full when I got there but barely anyone was in there. It was the swing shift time there, so a lot of them where probably dancers cars. They also could have been in VIP where I didn't bother going.

I don't know about the booths compared to Sugars, but there were two of them right in front of the vip, circular, drapes in front. The vip looked just like the main floor, I don't even remember seeing that many couches back there, but I probably just wasn't looking.

I HATE that they do 10$ dances till 8pm every night. I'm gonna have to read in HH on how to work around that.

    Thanks for the encouragement!

If you go back tell him Susan said hi. I worked with him there back in the Show Palace days.

As far as the $10 dances there is not much of a workaround with locals or regulars; my recommendation is just to accept it and work fast. Perhaps with out-of-towners you can upsell. I didn't really find $10 dances to be such a terrible thing though. You can turn them quickly enough to still make good money. I am surprised that they have them all day until 8, though. I thought that was just a Landing Strip thing.

I have a feeling that the appropriate hustle is similar to that at the Rose, which is different from P10.

I think that higher-volume P10 requires a faster hustle, where weeknights at YR and probably Palazio are all about finding that one guy. That's how I make my (damn good) money on weeknights.
