    Default Celiacs disease

Anyone here had to deal with this? I just found out my Mom has it which means I might have it(which explains EVERYTHING i've been dealing with). Im going to get tested next week but I want to start trying to change my diet now to see if it makes a difference in how i've been feeling.

It means you'll have to stop eating pizza, there goes your whole diet
I make a mean rice flour pizza dough, but you need an oven for that.

Out of the things you eat regularly; No bread, no beer, no cookies, no pasta. Sucks eh.
On the plus side, there is loads of gluten free alternatives in supermarkets these days (Even that dodgy one down the road) and even more in health food stores.

Fingers crossed you're not ceoliac, I don't think you are but you might be gluten intolerant like me which still means you'll have to ease up on the above products.

Well my Mom was talking to her doctor(who was my doctor when I lived in freddy) and he said that knowing she has it and everything i've been going through(depression, messed up periods, misscarriages, feeling sick every time I eat etc) its more then likely I have it.

This is the kick in the ass I needed to fix my diet anyway. More fruit n veggies and less junk food lol.

As long as I don't have to give up my vodka/7 and rockstar lol.

My dad's cousin found out he had this a few years ago. It's often not diagnosed. He always felt sick and could never put on weight (it can go the opposite and make u gain weight too).

It's an autoimmune disorder where the sufferer is allergic to gluten. There are a lot of foods specifically made gluten free now coz a lot of people have this.

It will make it easier to diet but it's super expensive compared to most normal food. You'll get good at reading labels and knowing what every little word means, and you might have to give up your vodka if it is grain based

My boss has it. She had to do a lot of research and check her labels carefully. Gluten is in a ton of products and comes in many forms other than wheat.

Another co-worker of mine is gluten intolorant and the differences between that and celiac disease is signifigant as far as the damage it does. For my boss, her disease has caused osteoporosis in her hips (she's 32) and is probably the reason for her recuring migranes. She also is at a much higher risk for many other diseases. My gluten intolorant friend simply gets bloated and has the runs for a couple of days.

My mom and aunt both have it. I havent been diagnosed with it, or tested for it, since insurance only covers it if i'm actively displaying symptoms, regardless of family history. I do try to limit the products with gluten that I have. I would be sad if i had to cut them out entirely. I hope it works out for you!

I think most vodkas are potato based too so this shouldn't be a problem
Pretty sure I learnt this from watching that movie, 'The Potato Factory'...

I'm gluten intolerant and changing my diet has been so worth it just for the energy and generally feeling and looking better as a result of it. Gluten makes me bloated and tired and depressed.

There are heaps of good gluten free products these days too and so many substitutes and you'll start to work out which brands are better and taste better. The annoying thing I find is that gluten free products generally seem to be more expensive (such as pastas and breads) than the normal stuff.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
