Default Anybody have an English Bulldog?

I'm in love.. I want one. I have no experience with the breed, but I've read they're good with children and pretty laid back and loyal. I don't mind the drool and snoring, I think it's cute and adds character. Does anybody have any personal experience with them?

    i have a little.

they are great pets...but beware, they have LOTS of issues.

snoring and farting are just the little issues.

they don't live very long, they tend to have eye, nose and skin issues, you have to make sure to clean between the folds and such.

if you go to dogbreedinfo.com and search for them, it'll give you a good idea..also look at the english bulldog associations websites for more info

they are cute little buggers though aren't they!

i used to have one and they are really lovely dogs sweet natured and really laid back but they are incredibly thick, really hard to train and just really dumb. but i loved my jaba he was a cool dudedog. if your wanting a loving, lazy bundle of flappy skin and drool they are perfect

We had one as our family dog in my teen years. Her name was Maggie. My aunt found her wandering the streets looking lost and she was injured like she had lost a fight. or maybe she was abused. People do fight them and it's terrible what happens to some of them. Maggie was lucky she found a home.
Sweetest dog ever. What everyone said above is true. They have shorter life spans than most dogs and typically have a lot of allergies and breathing problems because of their truncated upper respiratory systems. That and they're not that intelligent. But they are loyal and pretty adventurous, and have fun little personalities. Typically they are good with kids. Maggie had a very strange bark, which sort of sounded like a tropical bird squawking. She also would eat ANYTHING. Really. If you tossed something her way, it would get eaten.

They tend to get fat and also very sensitive to heat so if you live in a warm area be very careful as they get heat stroke very easily.

They are very sweet and have a sense of humor; they used to be used for bull baiting and dog fighting but it's been pretty much bred out and that's moved to pits for the most part. I haven't seen breed specific legislation pointed towards them so they shouldn't make it difficult to live in certain places etc.

My ex-boyfriend had one and my cousin currently owns one. They are sweet dogs but snore very loudly. They also have a lot of health issues.

My cousin has 2 and has spent over $8000 in multiple hip replacement surgeries. They are so cute, but they do have tons of health issues.

Thanks for all the information! I've been reading a ton about them, and I still think I found the perfect breed I just want a dog that I can chill on the couch and one that is good with my 2 year old. It's sad they have health issues and don't live as long but I'd love to get a new little friend and I'll do or pay whatever to make sure s/he has a good life.

I guess my next step is finding out where to buy one.

I would start looking for shelters or adoption services.
