    Default drink minimum

This is for strippers and custies
I have not been to a lot of strip clubs, but tonight I was harrassed to buy a drink. If I was one of those guys who never buys a drink or buys dances* I would take it as a hint to open the wallet, but I always spend money when I go to a club. I don't tip the stage as much as the other guys, but I will buy dances from the girls.
Is it normal to tell someone to buy a drink or leave. I had a good mind to nurse drinks all night, but I don't think being spiteful really does any good.

Is this nonsense normal? If I knew a customer was going to buy dances I would not care if he drank or not.

Some clubs have drink hustles or minimums, they dont care if you are buying dances as that money goes in the dancer's pocket. The club wants their cut.

The club is running their own business. Dancers are usually independent contractors. Besides, how would the club know someone is going to buy dances anyway? Usually, if it's a regular that comes in fairly often and always buys dances and the girls like him, then the club might be more leniant towards admission or drinks. Can you maybe buy the girl you are doing dances with a drink instead of yourself so you are still buying a drink minimum but you don't have to drink it yourself?

Its absolutely normal, unless you are a regular in the club. not that being a regular excuses one from buying drinks. Management isn't going to tell a regular he has to buy a drink because it is presumed he already knows that.

Very very club-specific question. One club I go to never seems to care if you buy a drink at all....another, the manager seems to have it as his mission that everyone have a fresh drink at all times. The norm is probably somewhere in between.

    All over the map.

Most clubs have a drink minimum but some don't enforce it. I've been in juice bars where you had to pay for two drinks upon entry and then redeem them with a drink ticket. I've also been in clubs where I walked in, sat and watched the show for an hour, bought a couple of hundred dollars worth of dances and left without ever seeing a waitress or ordering a drink.

Either extreme, and everything in between, is possible...

    Responding to two post

At this club the girls have to pay the stage/entrance fee, but the owners still get a cut of every dance. I don't know the percentage of the dance that they get.

I used to buy a coke since I don't drink, but every time I buy a coke I get cold so I stopped buying cokes. That particular night I bought a water. The doorguy gives me a cut on admission(don't know if he is supposed to).

The drinks are cheap compared to dances so it is not a money issue. I just hate paying for something I don't want. I thought about buying another customer a drink, but if I do that I still won't have one in my hand, which may draw attention again.

I guess the drink inconvenience is less than the driving inconvenience.

Sometimes I get to the point where I don't want to drink anymore too. But you can always buy drinks for the girls as an alternative. Management still gets their cut and waitresses are still earning their tips.

Bob, your idea works...well except in this one club I go to sometimes. The owner is a real ass and if you the customer don't have a drink in front of you he will keep sending over waitresses and eventually you'll be threatened with being thrown out. Despite the fact that you've been buying drinks for several dancers for most of the night.
