    Exclamation Dallas dancer fingerprinting, WTH?

I went back into work on Tues after being gone a couple weeks, and some chick from the city is there- we dancers all had to go fill out a basic info sheet and get fingerprinted (ZOMGWTF I'm a criminal?!) with her. She said that Dallas had just passed something-or-other law requiring it. I asked if it was going to be like Vegas, if we'd have to get licensed in the near future as well, but she'd only say this was all that was required for the moment.

So, this kinda sucks right- anyone else had this sprung on em and/or have any futher info? I feel really outta the loop here and anxious at the direction Dallas is apparently going...

    P.S. I'm at Men's Club BTW

    ...google it babe.

"Requires sexually oriented clubs to keep on file detailed records of all employees, including dancers. The employee records must include the person’s age, an original photo, valid driver’s license copy, fingerprints and a Texas criminal history report.

Dallas’ new law does not include several provisions some council members had previously discussed implementing. Among them: Requiring adult entertainment industry workers to obtain city licenses, mandating club cover charges and enforcing physical buffer zones between dancers and strip club patrons. Some city officials expressed concern that such changes would invite a wave of legal challenges. "

The city is trying to put the burden of record keeping on clubs, which i would contest. Yet, they offer no tools for clubs to guarantee they are in compliance with those rules so paperwork gets done, thrown in the black hole(lost) and forgotten. I haven't read the ordinance yet but i can see loop holes with the paperwork already. If you have a Texas drivers license then you already have your fingerprints on record so doing it again means little.

Girl Scout's honor I tried google first but didn't find anything, so thx. JEEZ a 12-yo stripping ZOMG... that's way bad right, but still this is definitely knee-jerk legislation as reported. And it makes me VERY anxious to think it's 'just the beginning...' /sigh

I just found out my self!!! WTF! I took of 2 months... SR just told me I had to come back up there tomorrow, 7 sharp! They have someone that will be there taking fingerprints and doing background checks! Then it takes about a week (up to 3, so I heard) to be able to work!
I also heard that Dallas only looks for sex crimes. Tarrant county you can not work if you have sex crimes, DWI's, drug charges, assault charges, and a few other things.
Though I heard TC is not at this time, doing the fingerprinting...
    So crazy...what's next

I guess things are sort of different at every club... About a month ago I went to Rick's in Dallas, and I had my fingerprints and background check done there for free; during one of my shifts.

But on friday, I went to another club(Cabaret Royale, down the street from SR), and I had to pay them $50 and then go to some office building for the fingerprinting people to reprint my file (since I already had one from Rick's), then I brought back a copy of an info sheet back to the club, and THEN they sent a manager over to the office to pick up my fingerprint file...but I worked that night.

Yes, unfortunately, it's probably just the beginning. Note that they are not only fingerprinting the entertainers, but the managers and house moms. Thus their "it's because a 14 y o. girl was dancing in one of the clubs" version doesn't fly. And yes, they are trying to push city of Fort Worth to go the same route and eventually have every club in TX do this.

They are now doing background check on realtors and loan officers as well. My questions is: what happens if a people does get into trouble and does get arrested. I am not talking just about dancers, but people in other professions who can't get a job if they have something on their background. Where do all this people go and how do they survive if they can't get a job? To me, it only pushes them to do more things that they might not have done should then not become desperate. That's a big issue, IMHO.

Of course, people who commited a crime do need to be punished. But when their life is ruined forever because they did something wrong in the future, it's not fair. LOL, our President had a DWI and he still was elected.

In Reno we used to have to 'just' get fingerprinted at the police station. Now we have to have an actual fingerprint card WITH US at all times (along with our license) ....

Exactly. So expect more police visits to the clubs so they can make sure that those are YOUR prints.

You club may not allow you to work if you don't have the card. Mine didn't let me work until I got my prints done. I was hesitating to get my fprints done for months because I have a degree in a field that might be "sensitive" to hiring former "strippers". I didn't work the whole time and needless to say, did not benefit from the situation, financially speaking. My club required me to have not just the fprints done, but also a background check by the state department of public safety.

Not to get political on this board, but the former Soviet Union was doing many of the similar things when its economy was falling apart. Needless to say, now Russia and former Soviet Republics have a terrible demographic situation as well as "shortage" of brains. America, don't become a communist.

Theres an upside to this. My club ran background checks on all of us and fired every girl who's been busted for prostitution : P. Needless to say these were girls who didn't exactly put their past behind them - aka were doing 'extras' in the club.

The bad news.... some dancers say lawyers can make that part of their record dissapear - so they may come back soon....

    Stevie,

Rick's is reeeeeallllyyyy slow right now, I spent two weeks making just enough money to cover fees and maybe have $20 or so left over. A lot of girls have been going through that. However, there are those few girls that still do really well. I'm not sure if that's because of regulars or good hustling or what...

But even on thursdays, fridays, saturdays, it's very slow. I really want to stay there, but I just can't afford to power through it right now.

If you go to Rick's, will you let me know how it goes? Just out of curiousity, I would like to compare your experience to mine.

I wouldn't sweat it, its just the way things are going. You have to be fingerprinted in Vegas and it's really no big deal.

In Dallas it is because of a club that got caught twice having under age dancers (15 I think). Dallas moved quickly on this because there wasn't anything they could do to the club.

then why are they fingerprinting the managers and housemoms, too? They definitely are not 15 year olds.

Im wondering the same thing. One of the clubs I was interested in was Baby Dolls too. Zabrina - do they just "hang up" on you when you call for no reason? That's a little odd.

The club that I'm at, the Lodge, used to use a company that offered same day verification and background checks but for some reason or another doesn't use them anymore. Now, I believe, it's a 7-10 day waiting period directly through the state.

And from what I hear, clubs are charging different prices for the verification. Some $50 and I've heard of one that was $200, so definitely call around.

And according to my club, all the records are 'in house' and shouldn't appear at all on any background checks. My guess is they're just looking for underage girls, past arrests for prostitution, and the fingerprints are to prevent verification with fraudulent documents.

I think it was a bad connection and by accident. Frustrating nonetheless!

Not to take over the discussion but just curious - is there more money to be made at Rhino? I heard dances are $25 there instead of the usual $20, but Im wondering of customers would be less spendy because of that.
