    Default Bare Minerals?

I love the bare minerals eyeshadow and I have heard really good things about the whole line (foundation, blush and everything) but none of it has been from dancers. I am wondering if anyone has tried it for work and see if it stays on and covers well

I love the eyeshadows. They are great, rich colors and the little pots last forever. I also swear by their eyebrow powders.

I'm trying to like the foundation so badly and I just can't. I've tried it a few times and even when the BE store MUAs put it on me I feel it looks cakey within an hour. It also makes my pores look enormous. It covers really well at first. Its medium to full coverage. I'll wear it when I'm running around doing errands and only need a little bit of makeup on to cover the redness in my face but I will never wear it out on a date or to work.

it does stay on and covers well, but it does tend to stick in any slight creases or wrinkles. at least on me....

I'm not a fan. The colors ar too limited, especially the foundations and it's friggin' messy. I tried the new Minealize loose foundation from MAC and I like it, better color options plus the applicator and packaging makes it much neater to use.

Tried BM and all I can say it eh. Its good if you want ultra thick coverage. My face was able to breathe but it looked very thick on me. I use mac liquid foundation now.

Lighter coverage than Studio Fix and the finish isn't as matte. I wear Mineralize on my good skin days, Studio Fix when I need the coverage.

I think that the new MAC mineral is better also. I made a thread about it a while back.

    Anyways....

I like the BM eyeshadows but again the foundation is meh.

I've used EverydayMinerals before. It's awesome! I chose it over the other 'mineral makeups' because it only has 4 ingrediants and is supposedly the best one for sensative skin. It stays on, but doesnt cover things like pimples, bruises, etc. I liked it because the colors blend well (for mixing foundation shades) and it didnt rub off easily. But they dont have too many wild colors

Right now I'm using the dermablend coverup as a foundation on my face. It work really well to cover up...it just doesnt stay on very well.

The mineral veil at the end is really what makes the face look flawless. I have oily skin and mine doesn't crease but I'm also pretty stingy with how much I put on.

I use the foundation and Warmth, the contour and then the mineral veil over it and I'm golden.

I wear it to work all the time and don't have a problem. Unless I have zits I don't even need to reapply.

I was told by a few different make-up artists here in NYC that quite a few people are actually allergic to the ingredients in MAC foundation. I've used them all. I have very sensitive skin and I was actually allergic to the MAC foundations. I just thought I was going through some sort of adult acne at the time...I'm even allergic to the MAC blushes (grrrrr I know). I can wear MAC eye shadows without any issue...and thank God for that...because I love their colors so much (vibrant, crazy and stay on).
Nars is also good for eyeshadows..........

    ...but back to the foundations..........

I personally like the Bare Minerals...but you have to use all the steps to make sure it works properly (the flawless effect). I have to use the last step....Mineral Veil not only because it completes the whole look, but when I dance and use it...my face isn't shiny at the end of the night...but if I use just the Beige....I'm very shiny at the end of the night.

It covers blemishes if you use the proper brush. I originally bought the "Get Started Kit" (which is cheaper if you buy it at Sephora opposed to buying it directly from the Bare Escentuals store. It's the best deal since it gives you all of your brushes and a good amount of each powder to start out with. (One downfall in the beginning was getting use to the application....if I didn't use it right....It would get blotchy....or not enough of a coverage...or way too much coverage...the people at the store and in the dvd make it look so easy in the beginning......)

As for a liquid foundation that stays on followed by a powder...I prefer Laura Mercier foundations. She has a very good line. ...and I never broke out from the foundation after dancing. It's great for the people that have sensitive skin. Her "Secret Camouflage" is an awesome consealer ...it comes in a compact with two separate colors (a light and a dark)....that you mix yourself to determine your correct shade (it's easy too)

I don't know if this info helps.....but I hope it does.

I love Bare Minerals!! It totally cleared up my skin, too.

I'm super low maintenance with it, though. I only use the foundation. I moisturize first, then I just tap a little bit into the lid and buff it on with a brush, focusing on the red areas. For me, the key is to use less, and buff it in very well. If I get a zit I just use my finger to apply it like concealer there first.

I've never used the Mineral Veil or any other BM product, though. I guess the idea of the MV is that it adds sheen so your skin looks glowy and soft. My only complain with just the foundation is that sometimes it looks too matte immediately after I apply it - it doesn't lend itself to a dewy fresh look. But I've never found anything else that covers so well. I apply it once in the morning and it stays on through 14-hour days bartending.

I actually get compliments on how amazing my skin looks now. My family all noticed the difference when I started using it and wanted to know my secret. I've even had total strangers at my bar tell me I have perfect skin, lol. I LOVE MY BARE MINERALS. :-D

P.S. I wear it to dance too ... again, I wish it was a little less matte ... but I usually just brush a shimmery bronzer over my face.

I know everyone is raving about how it cleared up their skin, but it broke mine out! I have no idea what the hell is the cause either. I think it might have to do with the brush? I'm not sure. It looked cakey on me after about an hour and god help me if I began to sweat. On everyone else I know that used it, it looked flawless.

Bah! i hate it when my skin won't get with the program.

I second what someone above said about Mac foundations. I was told that too by several makeup artists (even mac) here locally. I never used their foundations though so I have no real opinion about it.

Bare minerals rocks! I'm so in love with the foundation it's not funny!

I just started using the eyeshadows and I'm really happy with them. I haven't noticed any creasing but I use MAC paint as a base.

I use Philosophy's Supernatural Airbrushed something or another. It's also made of minerals, and includes SPF.

I've never used BareMinerals, but I'm pretty happy with my product. You don't have to buy a brush separately--the top of the mineral container is porous, so the product comes out gently (it doesn't fall out).

I'll usually use it with some concealer, but it does a good job of evening out my blotchy skin tone. I haven't had a problem with it being cakey. If I start to look oily, I just use my powder compaq for touch-ups...

The ingredient that likely did this to your skin is Bismuth Oxychloride. Some people have pretty intense allergic reactions to it, and others have mild reactions. Clearly, many people don't react to it at all.

If you're thinking about trying this product, put a little bit on your forearm first (the skin there is extremely sensitive, but a reaction here won't hurt you like it would on your face) and leave it overnight. If you don't notice a reaction, you should be good to go with it.

i used bare minerals foundation for three years and recently switched to illuminare because it has a higher spf (21 as opposed to 15) and offered more coverage, stayed put, and has less shine. i'm converted.

i do like the eye kits bare escentuals offers from time to time, my current favorite being "wine country glimpses."

How's your BE/BM holding up in the heat?

it sucks in the heat. It was great in pac. NW, but in florida..... no way. it sucks.

yeah, it's got its pros and cons, but for work or hot weather, it doesn't hold up. I've gone back to liquid for foundation (MUFE brand...don't really care for MAC) for work. I still like everything else from them, but I don't really do their eyeshadows anymore because the containers are so bulky.
