Default suggestions for my childs bday party

Hello i have a girl who will be 7 at the end of the month i want to have a pop star bday party for her and i want to do it on a budget but make it as nice as i can. I want some suggestions for activites we can do.

my own idea is to have to guests come dressed as pop stars (and i don't mean like bratz dolls but more like hannah montana or even doodlebops like. )

and creative ideas for everything from the cake to the games are welcome i am not to creative lol. thanks.

I don't have any spring/summer birthdays, but my girlfreind did and one activity they did and I loved, was she bought children planting flowers, paint, brushes, a bag of dirt and those clay flower pots. She had the girls decorate the pots with the paint and stencils and then plant a flower in each one.

The girls loved it and my daughter picked a daffidil to plant. Three years later (we replanted in the front yard) we still see it come up every spring and she thinks of Marrissa and her party. I always smile.

how about karaoke with hannah montana and HSM songs? maybe you can video/DVR it and then give copies of the DVR/DVD back to the kids a week or so after the party.

party city definitely has hannah montana/HSM themes for plates and hats etc.

as for party games and such, the dress up sounds fun but might be a bit of work for the other parents. but a dressup contest (e.g. for who looks the most like hannah montana) might be fun.

i saw an interesting thing at a party recently; chocolate fondue! the kids were dipping strawberries, bananas, apples, etc. into this chocolate fountain/fondue. really cool!

Maybe you can make a little area thats a "stage" and have them do karaoke. You can sometimes find microphones at the 99 cent store. I don't think they would even half to be connected for the girls to rock out with. Just play the music on a boombox and I'm sure they'll all have fun with their own microphones. I went to a Spice Girls birthday part that did this...back in the day.

For party supplies on a budget I'd suggest getting solid color cups and napkins in hot pink/purple because they are cheaper and kids will use a lot. Only get a tablecloth or two and the plates in the theme you are wanting. Most kids will only use one plate and themed stuff is substantially more expensive. Also, having the theme on absolutely everything seems a bit overdone. Maybe a banner might be nice or you could make one with a roll of paper?

You might find a grocery store or bakery that will put a picture of your daughter on the cake since she is the "celebrity" for the day.

Throwing adorable parties is one of the few things that makes me wish I had kids. Sounds like so much fun!

I went to a friend's 16th birthday party a few months back and they had one of those...total HIT! There were loads of different things to dip too which really helped.

I agree that Karaoke is always great for any party...I can't tell you how many marching band party stories I have involving karaoke...oh such fond memories! I would suggest Guitar Hero too...but that's aimed a bit older.

One that I had a great time with as a kid was cupcake decorating! Get some of those cans of spray icing and let the kids go at it. Be prepared to sacrifice your kitchen though.

    Have a dress up photoshoot.

(if you have dress up or can borrow some somewhere)

Set up a changing area with all the dress up clothes and accessories.

Then set up a little platform with some bright lights.

Get someone to play photographer and each girl gets to take a turn pickign an outfit and being a model. Make sure the photographer says things like Come on, daaahling, let me see that star smile!" Work it for the camera!

Or even if possible set up a "runway" and put on a fashion show.

Have someone be a "special guest"
Half way through the party, arrange to have your "special guest" arrive. and walk up the red carpet. Maybe a friend playing Britney Spears impersonator or something like that.

Have a superstar treasure hunt outside.
Go to the dollar store and buy cheap plastic glittery things like bracelets, rings, tiaras, feather boas....Hide them all around the yard and treasure hunt.

Hire a friend to be "makeup artist" and give makeovers to the girls. (please clean their faces when finished, lol)

I know as a parent of 3 children that having to find "dress up" stuff for someones birthday party is a pain in the but, unless it is right around holloween. I like the idea of having the dress up photo shoot. You can get alot of prom type dresses at a thrift store for pretty cheap and your daughter can contiue to use them for a couple years to play with.

That would make a really cute scrapbook for her too!
