Oh Lord!
I don't know what to say. I dressed like that; my daughter dressed like that. Nobody ran away from home.
Mom needs therapy because the kid dresses differently? Lady should have put herself in a bubble to protect herself from the big, bad punks.
And yanno, punk was a threat because you saw sooo many riots breaking out due to them.Healthy outlet = bad???
I wonder what happened to the kid too. Wonder if he grew out of his "phase", lol.

yay!! Thank you for the links. Man I feel old now![]()
as damp as a cellar. . . all mildewy I'm as damp as a cellar. . . all mildewy
LOL! That is awesome. Laughed so hard I cried!
Makes me wonder how into sex, drugs and Rock-n-Roll their baby boomer parents were?
Hahaha! Fuckin' hypocrites. I scared the piss out of my parents, too. The funny thing is, that the real problem was parents being either physically or emotionally absent from their teenage children in the 80's. Divorce was it's highest in the US in the 80's. All those kid's parents were likely busy trying to get laid and ignored that fact that 16 years old isn't an adult yet.![]()
Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

OMG-They're organizing! They have gangs! They might be satanic! Dun dun duuuun! God, I hope punks don't invade my neighborhood.
Ooh Christian Death and Social D.
ETA: Oooh A ' macabre dance of despair'. And de-punking center! This is great stuff.
The de-punking centre!Id love to know how that worked - well I probably wouldnt but you know what I mean, I mean wtf?! Lmao.
It did bring back to me how narrow minded some people were - though not until after id stopped laughing. I think my mum had a hard time with it for a while not because of me but because of the stuff other people would say to her about me and punk in general - In that respect things have come a mighty long way!![]()

Oh giiiirl, you know where I come from!!!!
This made me laugh so hard (And then contemplate my youth......... A little)
Years ago there was a video doco made about Hawthorn house (You may know of it Ms Qwerty, it's a long time Melbs punk house) While I was living there, I've never seen it, It was an 'AGE' thing. If you ever find it on your internaughty travels I'd love to see it. I think it was called 'Punx not dead' or something equally fitting.
XXXXXXXXXXS
P.S. Say Hi to all the old cunts if you see them, mwahaahhaahahha.....![]()
^^[email protected] the old cunts :-D Are you talking about the doco that featured a lot of Depression and gig clips from The Prince of Wales pub, made in the 80s and it was about what punk is, I think it was independantly made? I saw it on SBS years ago and have been searching for it without success online for ages now!
Though hang on I think there was another one which was on A Current Affair or something which featured interviews with the house inhabitants and wasnt too bad from memory.
Id love to see some of the old Gold Coast ones too. I was never in them but some of my friends posed as homeless squatter punks for some story and then all went back to their real homes to watch it on tv lol.
Have you seen this Aussie one, its about London punks - its funny but in a different sort of way! (makes me cringe a bit in parts, lol)

I can only imagine it was about haircuts and how the future will be lovely.![]()
Things HAVE come a long way-I was the ONLY goth chick in my high school (They must have had earlier punk people, but they reacted like Satan came by for a chat), they made new rules for me, my mom thought I'd joined a cult, people threw stuff and yelled from cars, etc. Now kids really can look even more outlandish and it's not so big of a deal. Generally.
^^^Ugh, crazy!
I got expelled from high school because of my mohawk despite being in the top 5-10 of my whole school year in all but 1 subject. I was lucky in that I never copped major shit for being a punk. More people thought it was cool than despised it. I got a bit of name calling from a far and that was it. Probably because 20-25 years ago many people were still scared of punks (thanks media, lol.) so they wouldnt come and say bad things to your face!
My son and his friends (who are all into old school punk) have had no problem in regards to their hair at school and thats exactly how it should be (-:

Gah-that sucks! Your 'hawk was awesome (you posts pics a while back!). I lived in some seriously suburban yet hick town, despite it being 1/2 hour to NYC. I ended up leaving my Catholic school and going to the public one. It wasn't better name-calling-wise, but the rules were looser. Less detention for clothes, no nuns stopping me in the hall to ask 'what was wrong with me'.
I find it kinda funny that in LONDON punks got crap for being punks. Or were you outside London?
^^^Yeah I lived about an hour and a half from London - in British terms that was a long way away, lol.
I think it was often the same in London though and 70s punks had a lot of violence directed towards them from others. That had died down by the 80s thankfully!
