Default Another red hair dye question

Right now my hair is a mixture of my natural haircolor (dark natural blonde) sort of as highlights, and a medium auburn (but slightly brown-ish too). (I had originally put streaks of a dark 'intense' auburn a month or two ago, but it's faded by now).

Basically, I think what I'd like to try to do is leave a little red in my hair as long as it's not too far from my natural color, and then if possible put streaks of a more dark-blonde color on some of the red hair to help bridge the gap between the natural color and the red, and kind of blend it more. So there'd be dark natural blonde, light or medium red, and something in between.

My question is, if I tried a neutral dark blonde the red, would that hair turn out too brassy? Or if I tried a dark ash blonde to try and neutralize the red, would there some sort of weird color reaction and give me some fucked up color? I'm going to do a strand test anyway, but I'm trying not to buy a box of dye I can't use. Any experience with this sort of coloring?

why dont you strip the color and start over? red is hard to kill. ive been dying my hair red for years. I went to have it dyed light brown with blonde highlights. The londe highlights took well, but my hair is STILL reddish.
I'm getting my Dial-A-Stripper service up and running again. If you are in NYC or NJ and are interested in private party dancing, email [email protected] with your SW handle, contact info, photo (if you have one) & best time to call and I'll get back to you asap.

If you're having a party and need strippers, email me with the details and any questions you have. Thanks!

Go to a colorist. Since your hair has been previously colored, you'll need highlights (bleach) to get any blonde. Color doesn't lighten color... so if you're planning on coloring your hair auburn, then painting in blonde and red, not a whole lot will happen.

Is the red a permanent or semi permanent color?
