    Default Weaves/Extensions

Ok ladies, anyone in the NY or NJ area who gets hair weaves, I need to find someone who does great hair. My hair stylist is great when it comes to convenience and time but I need a hair style that will make me look great and doesn't actually look like a weave. Any help will be appreciated.

My only suggestion would be to get a lace front. It's the most natural you can get, and it doesn't look like a weave IMO. There are some threads about it (do a search) and in one they post this awesome hair forum where they tell you where to get the lacefronts from.

I'm gonna be buying myself on really soon too!

Blackhairmedia = The Hotness when it comes to weave/lace wig info.

I second CK with the lace wig though. Those are the best...all ur hair is protected. I don't recommend the 4-6 week applications. Just do it a week at a time. I had found a salon that only charged me $25 a week to wash/condition/braid and apply my lace. Talk to a stylist about coming in WEEKLY and maybe paying up front and getting a punch card or stamp card to mark off your visits.

A good lace wig will be amazing. I think you could get by with just a lace FRONT for dancing...but the full lace is worth the extra money, IMO.

I know a great vendor that ships in 24 hours...stock wigs. I have bought about 4 wigs from them...referred people to them...and resold two of my used wigs from them on Ebay.

Thanks ladies.....I found a place in NY and set up an appointment to get a full lace wig. I looked online and saw the styles that I liked but I wanted to see how they look in person.

I like Blackhairmedia forums but those all those abbreviations make my head spin.

I get mine done in washington heights manhattan at a dominican salon on wadsworth and 190. Right on the corner where wadsworth meets St.nicolas.

I get it done by a lady named lydia and no one can tell it's not mine. People I've known for years still don't know it's not mine. They're always telling me to never cut my hair lol.... She charges 25 a track and she's really good and fast and you don't need an appointment. You can just walk in with the hair and she'll do her thing.

OMG I think I know the shop you are talking about. Did they recently start charging $18 for a wash/blow that used to be $12?

MsLayne.... I have heard good things about this guy... www.bjhair.info Ignore the low budget website. I heard he is good with the braiding pattern and that his weaves lie real close to your head and move real naturally.

^^There's like 5 dominican hair salons on every block in washington heights and most of them have specials on certain days where they charge less to lure custies. I'm not sure if the one I go to has them but, I know it depends on your hair length. So, it can be anywhere from 20 to 40 on a regular day.

Lydia is what stood out mostly...that and the weaving. I haven't found too many that do weaving.

I miss the east coast hair accessibility, lol.
