For those of you who believe that you need to tan hours on end to get the right amount of vitamin D, you may reconsider after you've read this article.

    I completely agree with you

Pale is beautiful. (But if you feel you can't pull it off, fake tan is your friend)

You look so white though, Ms. Q. I have to look real close to notice anything black about you cause you don't even have black features. You're just fucking hot no matter where you came from.

Live in Australia, cancer capital of the world. There's some stories. D:

I have programmer tan, i.e. blindingly-pale skin. So...my username is kind of fitting.

    Threadjack!
Its funny actually, I lived the first 15 or so years as a black person, the second 15 years or so as a white person and although a lot of people still think I look white, for the last few years Ive been picked way more frequently as not white. In NZ Maori people kept coming up and talking to me in their own language. Aboriginal people usually see it too and where as once customers saw me as a "true blue Aussie" (before they heard me speak!) now Im always getting asked what my ethnic background is. Its an interesting life!

Now getting back to the fake tans, Im fairly sure their ingredients are questionable - same with sunscreen too.

    Love the skin youre in!

Even those high level beds are terrible. The only use the aging rays but try to market it as "better" for the customer because they won't burn.

Why does Australia have so much skin cancer? Is it because of the hole in the ozone layer or something?

Awesome. I had some questions lately, now that I've laid out in the sun for 2 months consistently for the 1st time in my life:

How long can you go without worrying too much? A year? 2 months? A decade?

What the hell do you guys put on when you go in the tanning salon? SPF 15? 4? 0 SPF Hawaiian Tropic oil? Crisco and tin foil?

Yea, stop tanning and drink milk, the article sez. Eeenteresting.

The beds are worse as the levels are UV rays are sometimes 10 times stronger than the sun.

    Very, very dangerous!

Sunless tanner always made me look yellow, so I never bother.

Also the wrinkles keep me out of the sun. I look really young for my age and I want it to stay that way. I want to look 35 when I'm 50!!!

Because those who "colonised" Australia were english. So we have a majority population with anglo-saxon backgrounds whose skin is not designed to cope with the harsh Australian climate. Aboriginals skin is designed to protect them from the harsh Australian sun - hence why they were there first.
I did my year 12 CAT on this topic and it's very interesting actually.

I use fake tan, always have. I tried out solariums back in the day but I just went a darker shade of white LOL.

Unfortunately I love tanning. On the beach, or by a pool. Bed's freak me out, I get anxiety attacks in them. All except for one, it's the best bed EVER, but I try to visit the tanning salon as little as possible. Thank goodness for self tanners! Because of them I don't have to sunbathe as much.

Thank you. These days, your damned if you do and damned if you don't. I'd just as soon die in the sun rather than from the lung cancer I'll probably get from inhaling everybody's second hand smoke or heart disease from eating too much crappy fast food like everyone else will these days.

This is why I'm a sunless freak. I actually get browner with sunless than with a real tan though a real tan makes me yellowish gold.

Right now I'm having a mini-panic attack over whether to tan a couple of times before going to the beach this year or not. I tend to burn no matter how much sunscreen I use if I haven't been in the sun any.

I'm scared of the beds now though because my neighbor had half her nose removed due to skin cancer last year. I posted about it last year and several people on here acted like it was the same as having a malignant mole removed or something. Completely different! Half the people I worked with in Jersey had moles removed (it was weird, my boss had one removed, so everyone started going to the derm.)

My neighbor seriously had fucking half her nose removed though... Draw an imaginary line down the center of your nose and imagine one side GONE. Thats the kinda thing that freaks me out.

Sorry I'm rambling. I'm having a huge internal debate over this whole tanning thing. I wanna be tan dammit. But I don't want to have part of my face cut off.

Seems like a no-brainer when I write it down, but apparently my fear of appearing fat is nearly as strong as my desire to live and not be deformed. I'm officially crazy now!!!

i doubt getting mystic tan in your lungs is much better for you then tanning.
