I'm going to begin taking Paxil regularly, and was just wondering others experiences with it? I don't know much about it, but I'm going to Google it and see what comes up.

My only real complaint was the weight gain and low blood pressure.
I was forced to be on that for like 3-5 years (who can remember) as a teen and experienced weight gain, skin problems, low physical sexual drive, which didn't match how much I thought about it, un-clearheadedness, and what finally made them take me off of it, was when they kept increasing and increasing the dose, and I was becoming rageful as a direct result. Don't forgot to research the fact that they were/are looking into taking it off the market because they have discovered too many cases of suicide with users and believe that to be a side effect as well.

Libido killer and weight gain. 20lbs in 2-3 months ish was not what I was hoping for. I was 15 when I was on it too.

Oh fuck no. I'm already having a hard enough time as it is losing weight. Med articles on Google confirmed the same thing (weight gain). Since I already have the scrip, I'll give it a shot for a couple weeks at least and see what happens.

Wellbutrin seems like the coolest one out there!![]()
The main thing I'd advise is to start out taking half a pill for a week and then going up to the full dose. If you start out on the full dose right away it will make you feel really icky and you won't want to keep taking the meds. I do this with any anti-depressant that I start.

Yeah, I was on Paxil (20mg/day) for about 8 months last year. I gained about 8 lbs (which came off only after I started taking Prozac this year) and was a complete zombie. Also, I have a problem with skin picking (gross- I know) and it made that WAY worse. The only good thing about it was that it made me feel "at peace" sometimes...but that feeling was random and not worth the having to nap all damn day long.
Oh, and the withdrawl phase was a bitch even though I phased off of it slowly. I got severe headaches and nausea.
I've been on it... I didn't have TOO much weight gain but I have had some trouble taking it off. The dreams i have on it are a little too vivid for me lately so I'm thinking of taking myself off it.![]()

^^Oh, yes- the dreams are sooo vivid. But that's been my experience with all SRI's I've been on. I kind of like that side effect though...

i refused to take this when not one but two drs tried to give it to me. one of those same drs just gave it to my friend and i told her i really didnt think she should take it. she's feeling pretty hellish a few days in.. i know the first 2 weeks can be rough, but this is a top hustler who i have NEVER seen take a day off - she works 5 days a week, typically, for as long as i've known her. she left work early on a friday and didn't go in on a saturday bc she felt so bad. to me, that isn't a medicine that's going to help her. she sounded weird when i talked to her, too.

for me paxil was the DEVIL. it made me feel awful and when i stopped taking it i went into shock a nearly died. i spent a month in the hospital.
libido killer and weight gain. i was only on it for 3 months. the withdrawal period was 2 weeks, i was dizzy the whole time and got brain zaps (sorta feels like your brain licked a battery).

I took it when I was 12, but yes..I heard it also causes weight gain.
Luvox also killed my sex drive too, if anyone is going to try that (but I know it depends on the person).
I actually agree with everyone here, and I've been having some problems with it lately but I do feel the need to add to my previous post that this is the only medication that's helped with my depression.

Okay, so after only 2 days of taking it it's making me nauseated. I'm tossing it, gonna have to try something different. My doctor's said perhaps Zoloft or Prozac. I dunno, I'm kind of frustrated and really don't even want to be bothered with this shit. Any opinions on either one?

i've heard a lot of good things about effexor. i dont know personally though bc i refuse to take something daily bc i dont want to go through what youre going through finding the right meds.
i forgot to add i never had night terrors untill i started taking paxil, and when i stopped taking it they stopped. horrid stuff.
