You could try an enamel strengthening toothpaste, the only other thing I can think of are veneers.. which are pricey.

Veneers or Lumineers or crowns
Enamel strengthening toothpaste from the dentist (such as Fluoridex)
ACT restoring mouthwash
*sighs* I have the same problem too.
My dentist also told me about using ACT mouthwash with flouride. He also said to stop drinking soda which is hard for me to do but I limit it and drink it with a straw. The citric acid in soda and fruit and fruit juice is hard on your tooth enamel.

you can't build your enamel back up. All you can do at this point is save what you have. Don't brush immediately after eating or drinking, wait at least 20 minutes. And DON'T bleach your teeth, not even otc whitening strips. ACT is good, so is enamel toothpaste but you can't "build" it back up. Once it's gone, it's gone.
You can also bond your teeth if veneers are out of your price range. I've got the same problem too.

Fluoride is HORRIBLE for drinking. Using it topically (and spitting it out) would be fine, but please don't drink floridated water/beverages.
I think the question that needs to be answered is "Why is your enamel thinning?" That way you can work on resolving that problem appropriately.
It could be a vitamin/mineral deficiency...or something else. So knowing what is causing it will help you in preventing/rebuilding it.

^oh yeah I forgot to mention that earlier (the "why") Another possibility is acid reflux. For years various dentists asked me if I had an eating disorder because of the condition of my enamel. Turns out it was acid reflux.

Very basically, fluoride will make the enamel stronger which prevents erosion. I'm a little confused about the OP's problem though because enamel is SUPPOSED to be translucent. Everyone should be able to see through the incisal edges of their front teeth. The layer underneath the enamel is yellow, so if she was having problems with erosion she should see a yellow tint.

Fluoridated water is a good thing. You should get at least 3 fluoride exposures a day and most people get this by brushing twice and drinking city tap water (counts as one exposure even if you drink it all day). If you really don't want to, then you could try an ACT rinse.
^ No, it's really not.
Go read up on some of the studies of ingesting fluoride. It's not healthy for you in any way. Topical, fine...ingested, not.

You're halfway right. Ingesting large amounts of fluoride is bad news. Drinking fluoridated water (i.e. city tap water) is fine. It only contains about 1ppm of fluoride, which is beneficial for those who aren't getting as much as they should from brushing and going to the dentist. If you don't feel the need to drink it though, don't. Get it in other ways. I have read plenty of studies over the years.
flouride is actually bad for teeth
and from everything holistic
that I've read it does weaken teeth.
You can rebuild your enamel.
do your research on curezone.com
One thing you'll find is ditch your
regular toothpaste because it's
almost impossible to find one without
glycerin which leaves a very hard to rinse
of coating on your teeth.
Without this coating your enamel
would recover.

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

It's been thin for a very long time. I had a very bad habit a couple years ago and it ruined my teeth obviously. I just happened to be looking at them the other day and noticed how transluscent (sp?) they were. I'm going to go pick up some of that ACT mouthwash. What's bonding and how do I get it?
sensodyn Pronamel. It's working wonders for me![]()

Bonding is when dentists take the same material they use to do white fillings and layer it onto your teeth. They manipulate the white filling material into an ideal shape and thickness. It's more conservative than veneers.
I still maintain the fluoride is not bad for your teeth. Talk to your dentist if you have doubts rather than listening to people from a web forum or holistic medicine quacks who don't know anything about dentistry.
