Anyone working there currently? How is it?
I used to work there contemplating going for a bit.
Just playing devil's advocate - there have been some real complaints by dancers about this place in the past, including a lot of extras and the audition being to give the management a lap dance.
I know but the latest reports I've been getting directly and seeing elsewhere are all saying : "NO EXTRAS ." As for putting up with Lou's "hands on " approach, I suspect ; I'm taking an educated guess; that he's cooled it in the interest of his bottom line. To get and RETAIN new and good talent, he had little choice.
^Eric, you're saying it might be worth checking out and you're not warning the OP of how horribly it has been reviewed by DANCERS who worked there.
You're saying you've heard from some third party source that we don't know or acknowledge as a valid dancer's opinion, that it possibly has gotten better.
But you don't acknowledge that the general opinion of it was that it was a place where extras were expected from dancers, even by the management.
AFAIK from what I PERSONALLY saw and experienced there; admittedly a year ago and earlier- there were NO EXTRAS.
AFAIK- Lou was a grabby lech and may or may not have demanded; coerced or asked for sexual favors from some of the women that worked there. Considering Alaska's recently demonstrated talent for fiction about me I would wonder EXCEPT that I have heard similar type stories about Lou from other dancers with proven reliability and VERACITY . Ironically, my problems with Lou started over his behavior at one of my friend's parties that Alaska bitched about with her semi-fictional screed
Until the past month or so; the WOM on HLD was decidedly NEGATIVE ! Overpriced and low mileage from the custie pov. Low earning with a grabby, oversexed lech of a mgr. from the dancer pov.
I'm NOT recommending the place. All I'm saying is that I'm getting reports that things MAY; might; possibly have changed. That the place draws a strong crowd and that the dancer quality has improved. And they're sticking around so my GUESS was ( and I clearly labeled as an "EDUCATED GUESS" ) that MAYBE Lou had seen the light and cleaned up his act. Maybe. And the best way for anyone to tell is to go there themselves and check it out. Based on past reports it would probably be a good idea to bring a friend.

Eric, while I appreciate your clarification on why you feel the way you do, I don't feel that was made clear in your first post which was a reply to a newbie. They don't know where you're getting your information, or what "it's getting better" implies.
All that aside, as that is merely this particular instance, I have to agree that I don't think you should be posting in club chat.
Okay, so here is a first hand account: I do currently work there.
I must say besides from it always having been high mileage, the mileage meter is twitching... not all the girls simply grind anymore. Hell, I never did. I do the "3 second rule" AND THAT'S HOW YOU MAKE MORE MONEY ANYWAY! What good is a guy to you after you've made him come in his pants for $20.?? No, no, no, you must upsell... you'll never get a VIP that way.
As for extras, I'm sure they happen just as frequently as they do in other clubs. They are cracking down on how touchy a guy can be on the main floor. And as for the private rooms, I did one last night with a guy who had no expectation of an extra PLUS he tipped me an extra $100. Boundaries, boundaries, boundaries. You get more respect.
As for Lou, he never FORCES anyone to do anything with him, and he never threatens your job if you refuse. He just moves on to someone who wants their tip-out waived badly enough. Yes, he is coercive, but just say "no, no, no" and then he's gone. Plus it happens very infrequently nowadays.
The club is more crowded than ever. There is great $$$ making potential for a clean dancer. I feel terribly for any girls who couldn't say "no" and spent the whole night crying, and even worse if they returned. Never put yourself in an environment that makes you suffer, and never go back once you realize it does.
I feel badly that girls are giving it a bad name because it can be an incredibly chill place to work. What exactly are they saying and where are they saying it? I can understand their emotions if they felt intimidated by the owner's and custy's expectations, therefore defying their morals. Poor things.
But it still isn't a bad place to work at all. Come back for a couple nights to see if you notice improvements - you know you won't be held to any obligations.
Good luck, honey

Oooooooooooooookayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, girls, etc.,
I've done a little research on this here site and discovered all the terrible things people are saying about this place. I had no idea that females felt like they were being RAPED (or close to it) who have had the experience of working there. I am so terribly distraught over what I have read other dancers write who have worked at HLD! I work there!
Personally, I have never felt the way the ex-employees have described; I have ALWAYS felt in control when I was there... b/c I am... no one is forcing me, drugging me, or otherwise making me do anything I don't want to do. If someone asks me to "touch them" I have the god-given right to decline. In fact, after having done so, there was an instance when a custy told me he was, therefore, going to Flash.
"I know you're a nice girl, not a whore, but I was just expecting 'something else,' so I'm going to Flash..." was what he said.
My point is: I seem to have done well without having had the reported experiences that I read on this site. But since reading them, I feel like quitting...
I feel like an outcast
I feel like no one wants to reply to me after my last post... since no one did... and there were over 300 viewings.

Well from this thread I think it can be concluded that Hot Lap Dance Club would not be a good idea for a girl that has a hard time asserting herself and saying no.
I thought about trying it but never did. Still not sure where i wanna start working when i visit nyc.
Jules I would not feel bad if you are doing good there overall. You gave an honest opinion.

Hey. I totally appreciate that yr giving objective info on yr experience. Altho, parts of this post came across as really condescending. (Poor things?) Hey man, I'm as tough as they come, but there were extras done left and right, and I avoided the CR bc that's what was meant by it, and I don't know how many times thruout the night Lou would come up and grope me, and I'd tell him no, and then he'd just try again about 30 other times. It was a constant battle with that pig. In my first thread, which got deleted bc Lou came in with some slander, I wrote about the better elements of it, and what happened when I left. (Lou making up ludicrous shit, bc one of his "spies" saw me at someone else's PP on a Tuesday, when hldc was only open wed/thu/fri. His absolute emotional blackmail was what sent me over the edge. Like I said, I did very well there as a clean dancer, altho the LD's were prob out of control by even NYC standards. You are absolutely right about setting boundries = respect and money, and there is enough money that you can just go up to the next person. But it seems like your experience was also happening in a different time frame, you say the dances have cleaned up, and it sounds like Lou has cut down slightly on the groping in public while you are talking to custies, altho obviously it still happens and it's beyond gross. I'm so happy to hear that the LD's are become less disgusting. I've had more than one person get up and leave bc I wouldn't kiss them. (Luckily they were gentlemen and still gave me the money.) But that's the kind of shit I'm talking about about.
Thanks for responding, Silky and Alaska.
Alaska, in no way was a being condescending, nor was I referring to you and what you've experienced. I am not that insensitive. I've SEEN girls cry there b/c they feel so guilty... I'd be a scum bag to not take that seriously.
I've never pried for a reason for their tears (if they didn't want to talk about it), just offered a shoulder. BUT if they have been crying b/c they were [I]molested, [I]felt raped, etc., then it does not make me comfortable to be in such a work environment.Hitting the pavement this week.
I also want to add, FTR, that the girls that work there are some of the most amicable and lovely-hearted that I could ever imagine working with in a SC. I would hate to see them destroy themselves just for money.
And, Al, I'm dying to know your true identity! You said you stopped working there in Feb of this year right? If so, we have worked together... I heard about the incident you described - I think - but I don't remember who was involved since I don't work there enough to hear all that kinda gossip.

I see that my post above containing this link about the last recent discussion we had, was DELETED!
Im not a newbie I just have not posted in awhile and I am looking for a new club in NYC. I have a blind customer who goes there alot and he says the girls are really dirty even out on the main floor. This is kind of funny since hes blind and cant see them being dirty so maybe the girls are lieing to him LOL!
Anyway my 2Cents- I dont trust a place called hot 'lap' dance since supposedly in NYC that is illegal, we give 'table' dances
Dirty could mean they were unhygienic (which he could probably tell by smell if that's the case) or that they were doing things that the club doesn't allow, such as grabbing men's genitals or having him touch them.
Also, the HLD club just made the news about a customer suing over an injury sustained by a dancer's shoe during a lap dance. If lap dancing was illegal, it probably would have said something in one of the articles. Maybe it's not illegal where the HLD club is because those things are regulated by the state as well as local authorities.
^^^ I am DEFINITELY sure that "dirty" meant extras to him. Having worked there, I am sure. It is a very high mileage club with certain expectations in the private rooms and VIP. I, myself, wasn't a popular VIP girl b/c of this reason. But if you have no prob with HM, the environment is awesome. Low pressure, little hustle, great and friendly girls.
I did many VIPs with those few custys that didn't expect extras - they DO exist there.
But my main reason for leaving was that I was sick of being groped for $20 dances. Save that for the ViP, if you're gonna do it at all.
Even a blind man could appreciate the HLD environment since ... he FELT the dirtiness (ya, know, "downtown"), even w/o eyesight. I AM NOT SURPRISED! LOL! It's a PERFECT place for the blind, actually.
Like high mileage? Not a bad place to work.
