    Default The Anger Scale

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being Buddha, 10 being The Hulk), how angry are you in general?

I used to be a 3-4. Lately (aging, meds?) I've definitely edged up. I'd day 6-7 these days.

I'd say that I'm pretty close to a one. I almost never get angry. I'm a pretty laid-back person, and it takes a lot to piss me off.

I sit and stew in my own hatred 14 hours a day. At least to my own calculations. I use to get angry that people called me an "intense chick" now I'm just sorta like eh whatever. I'd say from the time I rise till about bed time I'm typically about a 6.

When you're angry, you're not happy. I'd prefer to be happy rather than unhappy. So I try to keep the anger to a minimum. Besides, most of the things that you normally would get angry about really aren't worth the emotional energy.

So you guys that are angry, are you talking about that's how you are every single day? Or just when something in particular pisses you off?

Yeah, I think I hold steady at about a 5-6 too.

I'm in therapy, that helped to get me down from probably an 8!

Honestly it's everyday. I have the ability to make myself go off without much of anything setting me off. I can conjour up misery in 5 seconds. I don't know why I do this, I just do. Always have. It's annoying and debilitating to say the very least.

I know it would take less effort to be happy, I just don't know how to be.

Once in a while, these days, you may see me at a 2-3, but anger makes me irrational and violent. I try to be withdrawn and objective when I sense it coming on. Rarely do I get angry, so I'm around a 1.

Okay, Ms. You need to start teaching us. My impression is that Americans are very angry folks, especially when we sense our place in the world order is lower than it used to be. Usually we get over this with a nice war somewhere, although the current misadventure in Iraq doesn't seem to be helping and is fuckin' up our economy something awful.

Usually 2-4, but it shoots up high when I'm wronged. I don't express anger often, I just let it fester for years, squeezed into a tiny ball of hate deep inside that I save for the right person and the right moment. Yep...healthy, eh?

I guess I'm a three? But I'm rarely if ever angry. I only get angry when i'm accused of being som ething I'm not. But then it passes. Maybe -3 is more like it.
