    Default Size 0 = 22 inches?

We have diff sizes here in Australia. Would a size 0 wear pants with a 22 inch waist? I always hear stuff on US tv shows that size 0 is meant to be good or hot. Just wondering what size it actually is. The smallest size u can get here in Australia is a 6 = 24 inch waist. Well I havent seen anything smaller than that expect maybe at Supre where u can get XXXsmall stuff but I dont know the waist measurements.

Well, I can get myself into some 0s and I'm definitely not a 22 inch waist, so it all depends on the designer.

My waist is 24 inches. I was trying on jeans yesterday which is always a frustrating experience. My hips are too wide to fit into some of them but my legs are skinny so if the waist fits the legs dont, if the legs do the waist wont even do up does that make sense?

^ yep, I have like a 25 inch waist and I can wear 0s sometimes. It actually sort of pisses me off because I know I'm not that tiny, like not a size 0 tiny, but the clothing companies are just doing that vanity sizing thing.

I guess if I was always a 0 or a 1 vanity sizing would piss me off because it'd make it harder for me to find clothes...but ummm...I don't think I'll ever have that problem.

I sit at a "vanity" 4 and lot looking at that tag.

    Same here.

I have a 27" waist (just measured) and I have jeans from size 1 to size 7 in my dresser right now that all fit.

Vanity sizing is totally in right now, and I'm not even what most people would consider a "big girl"(5'4" 126lbs 34D-27-37, and 14% body fat), but my inches do NOT add up to current sizes.

    In a standard (from the 50's) Misses' Petite I would wear a size 12, in a Jr a size 13, and in a young Jr a 13/14 or 15/16.

In vanity sizing I should be in a 0-4, which I am which loosely translates to anywhere from a size 8-12 traditionally. ( depending on the charts you looks at, like one of the posters above I am a 12 (or 15/16 in some styles) to a 8 here on this British chart. http://www.rodcollins.com/wordpress/...ze-am-i-really )

I am ok with that honestly, I just wish the pants were 2-4" shorter, lol!

I have the opposite problem as you Jaizaine - my hips/waist is small compared to my thighs, so I basically have always hated buying pants.

I wish they came shorter too!!! I am 5'4", one whole inch taller than the average american woman but I have to get every single pair of pants tailored.

I suppose it sucks less than having them too short though. Can't really sew in extra length.

I LOATHE vanity sizing! I used to wear a 4- I apparently now wear a kid's 12. Do you have any idea how hellish shopping is when the only stuff that fits has Dora the freaking Explorer on it? Seriously, it's maddening. It's not like I'm anorexic skinny or anything, I'm just tiny all around... (5'0'', 33-20-35) Arg, vanity sizing.
A 00 *almost* fits, aside from the legs being 6'' too long. I still get that thing where the waistband pooches out in the back and shows off my undies, though.
    I just want pretty clothes...

MissAlthea, I had the same problem before I had my kids. Try finding a drycleaner that does alterations. They are cheaper than going directly to a tailor and they can make almost anything fit. I would just buy the smallest size they had in something I liked then take it to be fixed. Don't take the tags off until the person has seen it though. A couple of things I had to take back because the way the material was cut or something. They should be able to tell you if they can fix it when you bring it in. The only problem was with jeans. The seams don't look right if they aren't faded. Try taking a pumice stone to the edges and washing them 10 or 15 times in a row. That will help.

There's a way of keeping the original hem. I remember seeing a step by step thingy on it and it looked pretty good at the end. You would never know the difference unless you turned them inside out and looked for it. I'll see if I can find it (because I can't remember precisely how they'd done it...)

Thanks for the advice, y'all... I'm trying to learn the seamstressing skills to do it myself, but I'm not so good yet. Really though, when the XXS vinyl booty shorts hang off me, it makes me all stabby.

That's why I only wear yoga type pants from Aero and just roll em up to knee-pit length, lol.

It's cute, and comfy, and no worries about hems dragging in puddles or mud.

In Canada, you can get very tiny clothing..this i know..

    Sizes range depending on designer.

    There is 0, 00, 000....0=24", 00 = 23", 000 = 22"...and also SM, XS, XXS and now XXXS.

There are a few designers who make a 21"...very few...and mostly Italian Designers.

I guess there has been a huge demand for smaller sizes...but honestly there are many oriental women here who make me look like a whale!

But I would like to know how they figure that a girl that tiny, would require a 36" inseam?????

WTF? I have a 26.5 inch waste and the smallest thing I can fit in is a 3, and usually a 5 lol. I do have big hips though , well, biggish foir my size (34 inches)

When I wore a 0 I probably had a 24 inch waste and a 00 23 inches. Damn my big hips! I would feel better if I could wear a 3 all the time, I know it's dumb.

I work for an alterations/ custom clothing studio during the day. We reattach the original hems on jeans all the time (for those of you whose pants are too long). We also take in the waist (for those of you whose thighs are big but your waists are small). These are both very standard inexpensive alterations. If you want your clothing to fit like a dream you need to buy it for the biggest part of you (thighs, ass, ext.) and have it altered to fit the smaller part. P.S. If you have huge tits buy your clothes to fit your chest and have them altered to fit your waist.... instead of buying clothes to fit your waist, and hoping somehow you can squeeze your boobies in.

I never thought of having the waist altered. Thanks! Maybe I can buy some of the cool jeans I love now without the back of the waist gaping 4 or 5 inches.

I'm a 24'' waist and wear 0's. I can't even imagine a 22" waist. I'd need most of my ribs removed to have that size waist, lol.
