    Default Calories in Mustard

I decided to try counting calories to 'liven up' my recent weight loss. I just noticed on my bottle of mustard in the fridge it says 0 calories. That's impossible. Is there really no calories in regular French's mustard?

There isn't, but there is a lot of sodium I think. If you ate a lot of it you would probably get bloated. Same thing with pickles.

pickles have calories. Just not very many. My cooking spray says 0 calories too, but I know that's not true.

^^it's true if you stick to the serving size. And mustard is a great condiment substitite for mayo or other dressings, it may have sodium but c'mon you would have to eat ALOT to get bloated, lol.

Mustard is 5 calories for a tablespoon. Don't remember where I read that, but I know I did.

Even if you did eat a tablespoon of it (which is a lot for something so tangy!), 5 calories isn't going to break you.

I believe that if something is under 5 calories per serving that they can claim 0. Or I could be making that up.

Unless you're really, really piling on the condiments, I wouldn't count mustard. But like others said, it does have sodium, and while it by itself won't count, all that little shit with sodium adds up.

I find that counting calories works best when you don't do it obsessively- you don't count gum or mustard or that bite you took from your friend's cookie. Just my 2c.

I think anything less than 5 calories a serving can be listed as 0. Tic tacs lists theirs as 1 1/2 though, i think just for fun.

I think in the US they only go by every 5. If you get foods with nutrition facts from other countries you'll see they are more specific.

....I can't believe dieting has gotten so extreme you gotta count your mustard.

^Oh my dieting is not extreme by any means. I was just curious as I've never cared about caloric content. As I type I'm working on a loaded baked potato I'm pretty sure there's more than 5 calories in it. And I'm not ashamed.
