What does a SC manager do? Saw a job opening...

I saw a job opening for a shift manager at the player's club. I was thinking of applying for shits and giggles. But it did get me thinking.

What exactly does a manager do? It cant be that hard considering i have yet to see anyone competent do the job.

Liaison for advertisers, liquor promoters, etc
Yell a lot
Stroke girls egos/yell at them

Overseeing safety in the club
Keeps track of sales
Inventory for the liquor
Hiring/Firing
Cash outs
Dealing with Liquor Control laws
Legal overhead shit

Lots of stuff that you wouldn't even think of really. Its not as easy as you think. People bitch about management but they have no idea what BS managers have to deal with.

Oh no, I believe that managers do a lot. I have some great managers, too. I can't imagine how much drama a SC manager sees over the course of a few years...

At one club I worked at, the DJ got trashed and really angry that the manager was trying to control him and the situation. Well, the DJ walked out. The manager was left acting as DJ. This manager was very nice, and handled it well, but the entire rest of the night was very off.

Like almost any company, the "workers" tend to do the work that's visible, while management gets a bad rep for doing nothing. But, the moment ANYTHING goes wrong, guess who we look to as problem-solver.

If a club is going to be successful, there's a good chance someone behind the scenes (management) is working very hard.

It would be awesome if a dancer who understood business and (obviously) the dancer experience, was manager! Good luck!

Oh god i've worked at clubs that have been managed by ex dancers and clubs owned by ex dancers... each experience was a little off and fucked up.

Though the current club I work at is owned and operated by an ex feature and she kicks ass to work for.

When I was a SC manager I:

Scheduled dancers and other staff
Hired & fired
Trained non-dancing staff
Handled the money for my shift, counting before and after the shift, and making sure the total was correct
Barbacking on occasion
Running errands when possible
Made sure rules were being followed by staff and customers
Having the bouncers bounce when needed
Dealing with staff and customer complaints
Being the liaison for the owner
Dealing with any work to be done to the bar/stage/building... sometimes I did the repairs, sometimes I hired workers
Handled advertising and specials
Hired features

An ex-dancer manages the crazy horse in the bx. she's a little on the loopy side, but was otherwise pretty damn cool to work for. then again she had done many other things besides worked in the SC biz---and she is dating the owner, lol.

I do have a degree (with minor in biz though) so at least i some edu-mah-cay-shun, lol. And i dont think its a general manager position, so the sucess or failure of club wouldnt be in my hands anyhow. It would be nice to get a salary....ah the days.

Hired & fired
Trained non-dancing staff
Handled the money for my shift, counting before and after the shift, and making sure the total was correct
Barbacking on occasion
Running errands when possible
Made sure rules were being followed by staff and customers

This is all the shit my husband does as a shift manager... As far as handling the $$$ is concerned, it entails funny money, house fees, support staff credit card tips, and covercharges.

Since he's the biggest guy there and a former doorman, he typically gets to physically remove the trouble making patrons- which leads to filling out all the police and incident reports. He also does some general schmoozing of VIP guests.
